Uncharted: Eye of Indra is Worth Watching

In yesterday’s PSN update, Sony and Naughty Dog published the first in a series of four Uncharted motion comics. The first in the Eye of Indra series is free. The other three will be bundled for $2.50. Based on the first episode, it will be well worth your money to snatch those up when they’re released next month. In case you’re wondering, this is all a prequel to the first Uncharted game. For now, in case you aren’t in front of your PS3, check out Eye of Indra and go play some more Uncharted 2.

It’s Shocktober 13th – Did You Drop Cash?

Brutal Legend Screen

Today’s the big day a lot of us have been waiting for. Both Uncharted 2 and Brutal Legend are now available on store shelves, depleting our wallets of hard earned clams. But with this economy, many can’t afford both, so you just might have to choose.

Did you buy one or both of these games today? Did Nathan Drake or Eddie Riggs tickle your fancy enough to warrant a purchase?

Let us know which games you’re playing this week. We’re playing both and you’ll hear our thoughts soon.

What Tuesday Game Has You Most Excited?

uncharted-2-screen-5

There are two big games coming out on Tuesday, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and Brütal Legend. One will be Game of the Year, in my opinion. With GameStop and plenty of other places holding midnight launch events for both games on the same day, it goes without saying that people want both of these titles in their consoles. So, we want to know which one has our readers more excited? Vote in the poll and leave your thoughts in the comments.

Sony Continues with Good Marketing

We’ve hammered Sony in the past here for their marketing of the PS3 (basically their lack of marketing), but things have turned a corner with their “It Only Does Everything” commercials. They’re well produced, they run often, and there seems to be a nice variety there. Combined with decent pricing on the system, I think they should have a strong Holiday showing.

The latest commercial features Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. There’s a very strong possibility this will be Game of the Year everywhere, beating out ODST, Modern Warfare 2, Assassin’s Creed 2, and all others. Go play the demo to get a feel yourself. But now, check out the latest commercial showing off how much it feels like playing a movie with Uncharted 2.

Uncharted 2 Multiplayer Demo Is Live!

Uncharted 2 Multiplayer Screen

No, my name isn’t Rick Ladouche and I’m not coming to you live from inside Uncharted 2, but I do bring important breaking news to my fellow gamers.  Recently announced over on the Playstation Blog, PS3 owners can now get their hands on the Uncharted 2 multi-player demo.  If you were like me and wasn’t able to snag a multi-player beta key from the interweb, you can now get your hands on with the game.  The multi-player demo is open for all PS3 gamers now, so get on over to the Playstation Store and start downloading!

The demo clocks in at around 1.2GB, but for that size it’s packed full with multi-player content, as well as a few hidden surprises.  The package ends up containing 4 maps, four competitive modes, and two co-op modes.  Not bad at all!  Uncharted 2: Among Thieves looks absolutely gorgeous, so one would assume that all of those maps, the high pixel counted textures and gameplay features would take up most of that space, but that isn’t the end of this post. Oh no!  There is more, so read on…

Naughty Dog is also including two new innovative modes to Uncharted 2 called Cinema Mode, as well as the innovative Machinima Mode in the demo.  They apparently couldn’t wait to get it into the hands of gamers, so they decided to give everyone a little taste.  Cinema Mode records literally everything that goes on in a multi-player round and exports it to a multimedia video file on your PS3.  Everything is tracked and recorded to this file so it can be watched over and studied over from every different angle or viewpoint.  Want to check out how WombRaider69 got you from behind with that knife behind the dilapidated car? Find out how he did it in Cinema Mode by following every one of his movements in slow-motion, and watch the knife go into your body from any possible camera angle.

Uncharted 2’s Machinima Mode looks to be the first set of tools put into a box released console game dedicated to the support of user created content and videos.  This means you can record any and all of Drake’s movements in the game only to use that content for a custom video or webisode.  Attach your blu-tooth headset or PS3 Eye camera mic, and watch Drake’s mouth move to what you are actually saying.  Pretty crazy stuff!  I’m excited! Are you? I can’t wait to hear Drake tell all of my crappy dick jokes.

Nathan Drake Returns October 13th

uncharted-2-screen-5

We knew the release date would be this Fall, but Naughty Dog and Sony have revealed that Nathan Drake will be coming to a PS3 near you on October 13th. That’s not too far away, so start saving your loot now because this will be a must buy.

If you’re the pre-ordering type, which most of us here aren’t, there are a few perks. Best Buy is giving away gold weapons for multiplayer, Amazon has a treasure map so you can find things easier, GameStop has exclusive access to the multiplayer demo as well as the downloadable Revenge booster (don’t worry, you can unlock that in the game), and Game Crazy will have an exclusive Currency Multiplier so you can unlock things quicker in multiplier for a limited time.

Some decent incentives to plop down a few bucks early, if you’re into that sort of thing. For me, I’ll wait until October 13th.

Dear Uncharted 2, I Think You’re Sexy

There’s a reason most outlets gave Uncharted 2 a their award for Best Graphics at E3 (and Best of Show). The game looks utterly amazing. Seeing more gameplay footage makes me want to go back and play the first Uncharted again. I think I might do that over the next couple weeks.

Game Critics Name Uncharted 2 as Best of E3

uncharted-2-screen-5

We’re not picking best-of’s this year for E3, but the Game Critics Awards are as usual. There were some great games on display, but Uncharted 2: Among Thieves took the top spot. I’m really surprised to not see God of War 3 anywhere on their list. Scribblenauts gets some deserved mentions, which is good to see.
