GTA IV for PC Broken

Dedicated PC gamers have been waiting for GTA IV, arguably one of the best games ever made to finally come to PC. Well, this is not what they have been waiting for. According to widespread message boards, the game is having huge problems, so much that it is almost unplayable. In a recent interview, the devs are asked every posisble question on what is wrong, what they plan for a fix, and anything else you want to know. A must read for anyone who has the game or plans on buying it.

XBL User’s Open Letter to MS About Live Issues; Taken Down by MS Soon After

Here is a very well written manifesto to MS about the recent perils of XBL. Its worth the read. Trust me. The forum post has been locked since and mysteriously disappeared. I managed to salvage it because the page was already loaded and I emailed the link to another person who could not access it. His GamerTag, DWells55X, is now mysteriously invalid all… weird. Click more for the entire ‘festo.

I won’t pretend that this is a completely original idea and no one else has ever raised the question of why Xbox Live is a pay service. In fact, I used to be one of the people who argued against them and supported Xbox Live. But, with recent Xbox Live troubles and news, it’s becoming significantly more difficult to do this. Having taken the time to really look at the state of Xbox Live is making me have to start agreeing with the people who I used to argue against.

Microsoft Offering Free XBLA Game for Recent Live Issues

Xbox Live Logo
Any avid Xbox 360 user will have noticed the problems with Live the past 2 weeks. Whatever the reason is, Live has been a major pain in the ass for a ton of gamers out there. Especially for those who have just gotten the system and this is their first taste of Live.  MS is offering some payback however and its in the form of free shit. MS will be offering a FREE XBLA game for compensation. The name of this title? Anyone’s guess right now. Here is an excerpt from an official MS statement from Marc Whitten(GM of Live):

At the same time we would like to offer a token of our appreciation to all of you in celebration of record success for the service.  And as a thank you for your loyalty during this holiday period, we will be offering all of our Xbox LIVE members around the world access to a full Xbox LIVE Arcade game that will be available to download free of charge.  In the coming weeks we will be sharing the specific details of this offer with you.

There are plenty of awesome titles to choose from. Chances are we will all be getting something less than spectacular.

iPhone and iPod Touch Devices Incompatible With the Xbox 360

We all saw this coming. We hoped it would not, but its here. Total Windows and Mac anarchy. At the beginning, you could not play iTunes songs on the Xbox 360. Now, its a total lockout. According to many people and this recent Neogaf forums post, the third generation, or 3G iPod Nano, and iPod touch along with the iPhone, apparently do not sync with the Xbox 360 and are unable to play the music stored on them. They are detected, but are otherwise useless. My question to the readers, is to confirm or deny this report. I have an original Nano and it works fine on the machine. It seems that only the new products are compatible and only the MS mp3 players will work. Anyone who has the new Apple stuff, let us know!

BioShock Patch Causes Massive Framerate Issues

bioshock1.jpgIf you have not downloaded the BioShock patch, then please do not. There has been nothing said of its purpose and it has caused my game and several of my friends to experience lag issues. This is absurd for the reason that its not a multiplayer game. The makes for an awful experience and I had to turn the game off because it was painful to play through. I can only hope that this will be fixed soon because this has made the game of the year basically unplayable.

[Update] To remove the patch, clear the cache on your Xbox 360. Go to the System Blade, then Memory. Highlight the Hard Drive and hit Y. Hit X, X, Left Bumper, Right Bumper, X, X. Choose Yes to perform system maintenance. This will remove ALL downloaded patches. The next time you load up BioShock, do not download the patch.
