It seems that everything for the PS3 is getting delayed these days. The SOCOM beta, the Resistance 2 beta, and now the PAIN Amusement Park expansion and the Trophy patch. Apparently, the Trophies were too damn hard.
While we were testing it became apparent to quite a few people that although the trophies were achievable they began to resemble the tedious level grinds in MMOs and not the spoils for being good (or experienced) at PAIN.
It’s good to see the developers of PAIN listening to the community. The expansion and patch will still be available in September, just not this week as planned. Sit back and relax, because it might be a bumpy ride.

PAIN is about to get better. The upcoming Amusement Park add-on is coming September 4th and Trophies are coming with it. Here’s all you’ll get:
Gold Trophies
- Affliction Addiction: Get one billion points (Good Luck)
Silver Trophies
- Dude Abides: Use “The Dude” to score 50 Strikes in Bowling
Bronze Trophies
- 10 Mill Club: Get “PAIN in the Park” and “D-Town Destruction”
- Harder Dick’s Balls: Get all of Dick’s Balls in the Block Party Dumpster without resetting
- (Heh heh heh) I really need adult supervision.
- D-Town Destruction: Get 10,000,000 score in PAINdemonium and Aftermath
- Combo Mambo: Get 20x Combo in PAINdemonium, Aftermath, Block Party and Demolition
- Attention Spam: Get every type of PAIN (Groin, Head, Arm, Hand, Leg, Foot and Body) combo in PAINdemonium, Aftermath, Block Party and Demolition
PAIN Add-on Character Trophies
- Trill: Get PAINful Tosser Trophy with Scurv Dogg or Hung Lo
- Grenade-A-Maid: Get Exploded 500 times with any female launchable character
Sounds cool to me. Can’t wait for both Trophy support and the Amusement Park. PAIN is still one of my favorite downloadable titles on any system.

PS3 owners are having a good old time right about now. Yesterday, the Uncharted patch was released to add Trophy support. Today we get report that the Warhawk Trophy patch is coming August 27th.
No official word from SCEA yet, since this date was given for our European friends. I’m willing to bet they’ll be ready the same day.
We already knew that some Trophies could be awarded retroactively, but now we get to know that the coveted Trophies will be divided into four categories: Community Building, Game Mode, Vehicle and Warhawk Weapons. Can’t wait to see exactly what they’ll be. Hopefully more games with Trophy support come out soon, since this great new feature is being left alone as it is.

Guess I know what I’ll be playing when I get back from vacation. The Uncharted Trophy patch is now available everywhere in the world. The 13MB download will allow you to level up your PS3 life.
I’ve been wanting to get back to Uncharted for a while now. I’m about halfway through on my current play-through, but it’s been a long time so I’ll probably just start over to get the Trophies.
I bet a few of our readers will be hopping all over this one.

If you’re going to turn into a Trophy whore, I’ve got some good news. Q Games has let loose the details on the 20 Trophies in PixelJunk Eden, which comes out today on the PlayStation Network. There will be 19 Bronze Trophies and just one Silver Trophy. No Gold or Platinum here, folks.

Seems like a pretty good list of Trophies. Along with the YouTube upload support, I think we’ll be seeing a lot from PixelJunk Eden in the near future. I’m excited for Remote Play. Watch out for our review coming next week.

In an interview with IGN, Naughty Dog’s Arne Meyer confirmed that an upcoming Uncharted patch will bring 48 Trophies to the game.
You’ll be able to get up to 48 Trophies in Uncharted. There are 47 Trophies related to what you do in the game — finding treasures, hand-to-hand or gun combat and the like — and the last one is the Platinum Trophy for getting all the other Trophies.
All 47 will be directly related to the accomplishments/medals already in the game, so you won’t be too surprised to see what’s there. No word yet on which will be Bronze, Silver, or Gold.
Even without Trophy support, there’s more than enough reason to play through Uncharted for a first, second, or even third time. It’s one hell of game (I picked it for Game of the Year 2007). Can’t wait for August to dust this one back off. There shouldn’t be much else out then, so it’s a good time to get back into the game.

As if you didn’t know this was coming, 2K confirmed that Trophies are definitely coming to BioShock. Yesterday on PlayStation.Blog, they confirmed what a few of them would be. The game will have all of them: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum.
What I think is cool is that the team behind the game is rethinking the Trophies and not just using the same ones from the Xbox 360 Achievements. There will be a Gold Trophy called Brass Balls where you have to beat the game on Hard with the Vita-Chambers turned off. You have to really step it up to get that one.
2K is keeping many of the Trophies secret so as to not spoil the story. I’m sure they’ll all get leaked before the game’s release though.

There’s been a recent uproar on the internet with gamers getting increasing angry that older PS3 titles will not be patched for Trophy support. Honestly, what’s the big deal? Is earning a few Trophies and boosting your Level that important to you? Is it really going to make you replay all of your old games?
I don’t see the reason for getting so upset over such a small issue. Sony just introduced this feature, and it’s undoubtably a good one. But people are forgetting that this is not just a new feature for gamers, it’s a new feature for developers. Asking them to drop what they’re doing to implement this into games that they have not touched in a while is just silly. Let’s think about this for a bit, shall we?

Dylan Jobe dropped by the official PlayStation forums and talked all about the upcoming Trophy support for Warhawk. No, they aren’t out yet. Soon, young Jedi. Soon.
Trophies are coming in update v1.5. But wait, v1.4 isn’t out yet. Don’t fret, as the two patches were developed in tandem and will be coming “very very very soon”. Yeah, I like the sound of that. There will be 56 achievements in all, with 10 being retroactive to medals and awards in the game. That’s right, if you already have them, you’ll automatically get the Trophies. Then there’s 34 achievements that are all new and have nothing to do with the current in-game medals. I’m betting things like a certain number of headshots, shooting down aircraft, etc. That leaves 12 more achievements. There will be 4 for each booster pack. But there’s only two out now, you so. Hmmm. Guess what’s coming…
Gotta give a lot of respect to Incognito for really staying behind the community of their game. Glad to see this awesome online shooter will be getting some nice updates and Trophies. Stay tuned as we get more information on a release date for both patches and the new booster pack.

In the pursuit of science, I spent a while today getting to know the latest PS3 firmware update. Some of the biggest criticisms have been addressed, while a few others still remain. If you don’t know what this firmware brings, shame on you. But I’ll tell you anyway.
First off, in-game XMB works as you would expect. Checking and sending messages, viewing what friends are up to, changing some settings, it all works great. There are some features that don’t work, such as changing your video settings, which is understandable. Two areas I hoped would make it, but should be slated for a future release are cross-game invites and private voice-chat in-game. Another minor feature is the addition of the date and time in the upper right hand corner of the screen. Good idea, bad placement. You see, whenever you hit the PS button to bring up the XMB, the clock is covered up by the controller battery status. When in the XMB with a dark wallpaper, it’s tough to see either. Hopefully Sony includes an option to disable the clock or move it in a future firmware update. Custom soundtracks are there, but currently no games support this feature through the XMB just yet (some games support it in-game, like PAIN).
