Review: Transformers – Revenge of the Fallen

Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Screen

This summer everyone had Transformers circled on their calendar. People love big robots. I like big robots, especially ones that I grew up watching when I was a young’un. The inevitable video game sequel is here as well and has thoroughly improved on its predecessor. TF: RotF is better in every way than the first next gen installment. The story is more expansive, there are more characters, there are more missions, the game is just better in almost every way. Almost.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen – Optimus Prime Downtown Walkthrough

The last Transformers game was a disappointment for a lot of fans and the developers know this. They are trying to break the streak of good movie, awful game with the latest iteration of Transformers. Hopes are not that high considering recent trends, but the game looks like it could be good and it is obvious that using the weapons instead of melee will be much more prevalent. Check it out.

Transformers – Revenge of the Fallen Gameplay Trailer

The first TF game was “less than meets the eye”. This time around, it looks and hopefully plays better. It would see as if the robots use all the weaponry as opposed to melee fights which got real old, real fast. This is also two trailers in one so watch both and pray Megan Fox is somehow involved.

Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen – Extended Teaser Trailer

Transformers are not really video gaming related, but its our site and we like robots. So much so, we are going to post a sick, sick teaser for the sequel to the Transformers movie. Note a few things. One, there are more robots. Two, they all seem pissed. Three, The Fallen is a giant unicycle and he is doesn’t care about humans. Revenge is coming. I wish Megan Fox was coming. Hey-yo.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen – Teaser Trailer

We all knew there was going to be a new Transformers game. We all are hoping it is nothing like the last one. Here is the new teaser for it. So far, it would seem like the advanced weapons of the robots are useful and not just decoration.  I wouldn’t mind transforming into Megan Fox’s bicycle seat.

All Spark Turns Into a USB Hub

All Spark USB Hub

Who knew the device that would aid in destroying the world could also provide power and connectivity to all of your favorite PC devices? Whether you’re a fan of the Autobots or Decepticons, you’re pure geek if you pick up on of these.

Picking up the All Spark might set you back £17.99, but it you’re a die hard Transformers fan, it’s a drop in the bucket. I’m pretty sure I’ll be passing on this one, but it is cool as shit.

Transformers: The Game PC Demo Now Available

Activision sent word that the demo for the PC version of Transformers: The Game is now available for download from their website, which weighs in at a cool 699.3MB. Hit up the downloads section for the link (it’s all Flash, so we can’t hot-link it).

The game is fairly fun on consoles, and I’d expect the same experience on the PC. Check out our review here and grab the demo and find out for yourself.

PC Requirements after the jump (don’t worry, you don’t need to buy a new machine).

Transformers: The Game Review

transformers-the-game-screenshot-big.jpg

When I heard there was going to be a next gen Transformers game, I was absolutely psyched. Then I saw screenshots, then videos, then gameplay. Still stoked. Then the reviews came rolling in. Wow. Its like finding out Santa Claus killed himself in your backyard. Still, I really wanted to see if everyone was overcritical and play the game myself through BOTH missions.

Presentation and Graphics: This could very well be broken into two categories, the Transformers themselves and everything else. Seeing Starscream transform on the fly on a 50” plasma was a treat unto itself just as much as all the Transformers were, but the level design and surrounding lighting was decent at the very best. It seemed that all the focus was the robots and not anything else and it made the levels seem bland and repetitive. The loading screens were actually pretty neat and the menus had their own transforming graphics and were easy to navigate. The game was polished in some areas but not all leaving much to be desired. 2.5 of 5
