Sam Fisher Sneaks into Eurogamer Expo

splinter cell conviction screen1

This past weekend at the last day of the Eurogamer Expo Ubisoft decided to give gamers a little love. We got a quick demo of Splinter Cell: Conviction at maximum volume. It was the first look since the walkthrough at E3 and it drew a big crowd.

While it was the same scene from E3 on show the Ubisoft team decided to do things slightly differently than was displayed at the E3 preview. Instead of sneaking Sam around all those civilians he pulled out a gun and sent all the innocents scrambling for cover. The screams and cries peaked the curiosity of the guards at the gate who went to investigate, allowing Fisher to scale the wall. A half cry in alarm and a few headshots later Fisher is breaking through a window and taking on a few more baddies. This walkthrough presented a little more of a directly combative Sam Fisher than the stealthy Sam we saw in the E3 demo, allowing the game to show it offers a little more freedom in gameplay styles this go around.

Soul Trapper: Episode 1 Trailer for the iPhone/iPod Touch

Soul Trapper: Episode 1 has been available at the App Store for quite some time.  If you haven’t heard of it, it’s a interactive audio adventure clocking in at over three hours of total gameplay.  It’s reminiscent of Indigo Prophecy and if that doesn’t pique your interest then this game might not be for you.  The story unravels around a man named Kane Pryce who possesses a mysterious device known only as the Soul Trap.  Your job is to uncover the mysteries scattered throughout the story by listening carefully for clues.  There are interactive elements involved but the main focus of the game is the story.

We finally have an official trailer and hope to have a review of the first episode in the eventual future.

Illusion Labs Announces Sway for the iPhone/iPod Touch

If you can even vaguely remember our review of Touchgrind, you could understand how we could be so excited for Illusion Labs next title.  Sway is being developed together with ReadyFireAim to bring gamers a whole new touch based game for the iPhone/iPod touch. The official press release is after the jump but I recommend checking out the gameplay trailer instead.  Watching is always more fun than reading.  No release date has been announced at this time.

Trailer: HydroTilt for iPhone/iPod Touch

HydroTilt isn’t just another Marble Madness style game.  Yes, you do roll a ball of water around on platforms but there are also various puzzles to solve by manipulating the ball into different forms.  The iPhone’s accelerometer usually works well with games of this nature so check out the official trailer and see for yourself if it is worthy of a purchase.  HydroTilt is now available at the iTunes App Store for $4.99.

MadWorld Holiday 2008 Trailer

This has to be one of the most anticipated Wii games of next year, it’s at least one of my personal favorites already.  With all of the great games being released this last year mostly coming from the other two big consoles it’s nice to see the Wii getting it’s own highly anticipated 3rd party exclusive title.

The brand new holiday trailer gives us some of the background story and more great ways to dispose of your enemies.  Even with the age verification the video has been censored quite a bit but you get the idea.

Alone in the Dark 5 – Trailer for Xbox 360 and PS3

This trailer shows you almost unmatched environmental interaction. One thing can be certain, this game will have some awesome puzzles that will be very open ended. Any game where the environment is as free as this deserves consideration.

Note: This is not to be confused with the movie where Tara Reid played a biochemist. I don’t think Tara can spell biochemist. This role was about as believable as Rob Schneider playing a gigolo.
