One of the best side scrolling fighters on the SNES and perhaps the best TMNT game made to date will be coming to XBLA. The price is not yet known but if the game has online co-op and there is no reason it shouldn’t, many a gamer will be downloading this game asap, myself included. It would be absolutely be awesome if there were some new characters such as Casey Jones, but probably not. No word on a PSN release as of yet. Now, if they could make a Turtle Hangout in Home, that would be awesome. By the way, is Home still around?
So I grabbed what I think is one of the funnest arcade games I ever played: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This gem from 1989 is now available on Xbox Live Arcade for 400 points. I spent a lot of time with the game the past two days, and I’m very impressed. The controls are spot on from the arcade, and it’s just as hard as I remember. You go through so many lives to get through the game. Thankfully there are unlimited continues in offline single player. In online co-op, you get 15 lives to start, and once you’re done… well, you’re done.
I played through co-op with taz8080 last night until we both died off. We got a little more than halfway through the game, just past where you fight Rocksteady and Bebop together. There’s tons to fun to be had both offline and online.
Achievements are pretty hard for this game. There’s a few of them where you have to get through parts without dying, which is near impossible in this game. My hat’s off to anyone who can get 200 points here.
If anyone wants some TMNT co-op, look for the Loot Ninja guys online.
You know how you will just remember somethings forever. You know like the first time you got drunk, first time arrested, first dance floor handjob, yeah those things. Apparently, the level select code for TMNT the arcade game is one of those.
At the title menu press B A B A up down B A left right B A start. For 2 player, just press select before start. If the game is a true NES port, this will work. Let me know if it does. You should be rewarded with a screen that lets you select level as well as 9 lives to start the game.
If I can only forget that time I sat on my uncle’s lap…
[UPDATE] Turns out that the code does not work and I wasn’t molested. FYI though, you do get unlimted lives in single player mode. Here are the hit point damage values:
basic attack: 2pts
jump kick: 3 pts
special(jump and attack at same time) : 4 pts
These are confirmed from the people at Nintendo Power. The guys at Loot-Ninja are always down for some four-way action. TMNT that is. Get your mind out of the gutter.
