In my high school years, before we could drive, many a weekend night was spent playing N64 with beer we stole from someone’s garage or got a homeless guy to buy for us. We spent those nights playing either Goldeneye or WWF No Mercy. The latter was an absolute masterpiece for wrestling and great beyond its years. THQ solidified themselves as the studio who knew wrestling and what its rabid fan base wanted out of a game. The SvR series has since replaced those titles and every year seem to get a little better, but falling short of overall greatness. In SvR 2010, they got it right.

While browsing the Xbox Live Marketplace today, I came upon a new item for UFC 2009 Undisputed which offers two new fighters, Ryan Bader and Efrain Escudero. What struck me as odd is the description accompanying the DLC. As you can see in the above picture, this item costs 320 Microsoft Points. However, the description states “Download these free roster additions…” Did I miss something here?
I may have slept through a couple classes in college, but last time I checked, free did not equate to $4. Requests to Microsoft and THQ were not returned by press time, but we’ll keep you posted when we hear from them regarding this confusion.
[Update] Yes, I am aware that these are the same fighters that were offered as pre-order bonuses as GameStop.

Destruction, friends, beer. All elements of a great night for a gamers, which Red Faction Guerrilla promises to provide. Volition and THQ return us to the red planet in the role of a terrorist and insurgent, which is surprisingly fun despite the negative stigma attached to the role in this day and age. Your mission is blow up everything of the bad guys’ and follow some stereotypical summer movie plot line. In this installment of the Red Faction series the focus of destruction is on buildings, beautiful explosions dismembering man-made objects and baddies too.

Being a huge MMA fan, the announcement of UFC 2009: Undisputed got me all antsy in the pantsy. The prospect of a true mixed martial arts game was exciting, but was also met with trepidation. Could THQ pull off what amounted to only an okay fighting game before? When Undisputed showed up at my door, the game immediately went in my consoles and has not left. It’s that damn good.

We had a chance recently to chat with John Edwards, the Senior Creative Manager for UFC 2009: Undisputed, on many aspects of the game. Being huge MMA fans here at Loot Ninja, we talked the ins and outs of the sport and how it translates so well to the game this time around.
Read on to find out how THQ balanced the gameplay between stand up and ground combat, submissions, their favorite fighters, and a lot more.
Most of you know by now that I’m a big MMA fan. Since the announcement of UFC 2009 Undisputed, I’ve been anxiously awaiting putting someone in a rear naked choke in a video game. THQ released a trailer showing off the clinch and how you can punish opponents from this position. Ch-check it out.

Wahoo! I get something first!
This weekend THQ released codes to members of their website to download the Red Faction: Guerrilla demo via either PSN or Xbox Live. Codes are available on a first-come-first-serve basis and are in limited supply and the demo is single player only. I don’t know how many codes they will allow but I can tell you that they are still available. My download is 48% complete. I suggest you make your way over by clicking the link below and registering on the THQ website. Don’t waste your time if you are outside Europe, the codes are region locked.

I’ll write-up my impressions for all you poor bastards living in the land of free and Canada when I get the chance, but I will probably be busy destroying EVERYTHING!

Fans of wrestling, especially from the good ol’ days when everyone was sauced up on ‘roids and pain pills, but still told you to take your vitamins, will give a good look to WWE Legends of Wrestlemania. There are some real industry icons in here and I cannot wait to have a chance to play the full version. Hit the jump for the full roster as of right now. I am not sure if any of these are unlockables or the default roster. I am also not sure half of these guys are still alive. Hit the jump for more
Chop Sushi is THQ’s first foray into original mobile games. Not to say that Chop Sushi is THQ’s first mobile game or that it was made specifically for the iPhone/iPod touch, it’s just not a port or a remake of an already established franchise.
Chop Sushi is categorized as the usual match-three style game but at least the animation looks adorable. We haven’t had a chance to try this one out quite yet but we have included a video so you may decide for yourself. The only concern I have is that the game is also available for mobile phones which could mean a lack of graphical polish. An official press release is included after the jump. Chop Sushi is available now at the App Store for $2.99.
