Nintendo Video Game Candy

On my recent trip to the West Coast I came across a shop that had everything you can imagine imported from across the ocean, Japan. A few great things they had were video game themed candies and toys, like Gameboy shaped candy tins, a Nintendo energy drink with Mario on it and even an energy drink called a Flaming Moe. (yes from the Simpsons)

Here are some shots of the candies I bought to try out, please note that all candy tasted less than great, so really I payed for the tins, hehehe.

A classic NES controller tin filled with mints, the mints smelled like Altoids, but sure didn’t taste like them, the tin will at least serve a purpose later to hold paperclips.

The Simpsons Game (Xbox 360) Review

Simpsons Game Screen 1

The Simpsons game has caught quite a beating wherever you check, but we will give you the lowdown on your fine-feathered Yellow family. Okay they aren’t feathered, but read on anyway.

Presentation and Graphics: Each level starts and ends with a Simpsons cut-scene that looks amazing in HD. The game itself for the most part looks pretty good and sticks with the cartoonish style of Springfield. The odd part is that at times during the stages the cutscenes change to a horrid almost sketch like style, which makes the family look like their first season artistic style. The game is bright and the environments are good looking, but there isn’t much to put in here other than it looks like the Simpsons. 3 out of 5

Official Simpsons Controllers

So you like the Simpsons and you like Guitar Hero, well then friends step write up to this spanking new controller. You too can rock with Otto’s own special edition guitar controller. Unfortunately this hot item is only available for the PS2 version, no Xbox 360 love just yet, but something tells me that will come next.

The site even has controllers, bundles and wires with Simpson’s character’s plastered all over them, more gratuatous Simpson’s items to pawn off their likenesses. Check out all the Simpson’s swag and junk here.

The Simpsons Game Impressions - Xbox 360

The SimpsonsI had read a few reviews of The Simpsons Game and was pretty saddened by the level of hate that was aimed toward our friendly yellow crusaders the Simpson family, but I decided to give them a whirl on my 360. The game starts off with the ever famous Land of Chocolate level where you smash chocolate bunnies and then eat them to fill your power gauge as Homer. The level is full of humorous lines and the graphics of Homer in HD are pretty damn sweet.

You then progress and pick up Bart and take him and Homer through the museum and learn that Bart can become Bartman! At this stage I learned that you can co-op a friend in and one of you controls Bart while the other controls Homer, this made the game pretty fun. Yes there are camera issues and the controls aren’t anything special, but it is a humorous platformer with your favorite cast of yellow citizens. This game is made for Simpsons fans to enjoy the humor, the gameplay could have used some work from what I have seen so far, but for the parts I got to play with my friend (before my Xbox died!) was pretty fun. It is the equivalent of watching a Simpson’s episode.

There is also probably one of the best achievements ever in the game, you get 5 points for hitting start and starting the game! Comic genius. Unfortunately I couldn’t get more time in with it, but once I get my Xbox 360 back you better count on a full review of this bad boy! DOH!

Many have asked where are the Wii games?

Big cup of STFUNintendo is replying - here they are, now shut up!
This is a huge list of games that will put the library of Wii titles close to 150 (not counting Virtual Console games) and the DS titles close to 450.

I thnk Nintendo really wants to show everyone that not only Nintendo developed games are scheduled ot hit the console but also a lot of third party games as well, many have speculated that third party developers would shy away from the unique controls.

Here is the all encompassing list of games scheduled to come out for the Wii and the DS until the first quarter of next year.

The Simpsons: Demo Impressions for Xbox 360

simpsons-2.jpgSimpsons games have developed a pattern in the history of video games. That pattern is overall sucking. How can a franchise that is the longest running sitcom in the 50 year history of television been so inept at making even a playable video game?  The next gen version of the Simpsons promises to deliver a gaming experience we have all longed for.  The demo allows you to play as Bart and Homer, though you find that Homer is pretty much useless in this level.  You battle the Lard Lad mascot, which is brought to life by the two aliens that show up every Halloween. Lard Lad is hell bent on destroying the city but there seems to be no time limit in which to stop him.  Without spoiling the gameplay, you have to use Bart to damage the robot/mascot and bring him down.  The commentary is done by our favorite newscaster Kent Brockman which actually is pretty cool. His Kent-isms are hilarious and there is plenty of them. The gameplay might take some getting used to. You seem to pick up life along the way, though I don’t know how. I kept killing the Krusty dolls that chased me around.  There are plenty of things to pick up such as pickups which are only obtainable with the correct character.  The game promises to deliver 16 missions that allow you to play as all 5 family members each with specific abilities as well as 170 NPC’s you can interact with.  There should be plenty of Simpsons dogma for the many hardcore fans that are out there.  The jury is still out on this one, but expect a full review once Gamefly delivers the game to my doorstep.

The Simpsons Game - Grand Theft Scratchy

We have seen some cuts of the new Simpsons Game and they all are looking very promising. This looks to be the best Simpsons game to date by far and after watching this Grand theft Scratchy clip they have my money. Would be interesting if they add some online modes as well.

The Simpsons Game - HD Extended Trailer

Best. Trailer. Ever. I will be on the internet within minutes registering my enthusiasm. No, really. This looks pretty damn good.

The Simpsons Game: Medal of Homer

Listen to Homer recreates what the events WW2, in an homage to Medal of Honor. I have a feeling I’m going to enjoy this game.

Create your own Simpsons Avatar

Ok we all know by now that the Simpsons Movie is coming out on July 27 and after years of watching it on television I doubt many of us can resist their yellow cartoonish comedy. Now you can actually create your own Simpsons avatars right on their homepage, just click on create an avatar and go to town, it actually has quite a few options and is pretty fun to pass the time.

Here is a Simpsons version of myself.
