Remember those “Make your own Adventure” books? You would turn to page 17 only to be killed by a werewolf but turned the page back real fast because your bad choice resulted in an unfavorable outcome? Imagine that in the Star Wars universe. Imagine if “The Apprentice” killed Darth Vader and took on Obi Wan Kenobi, Boba Fett, and Luke. (I know Fett is not of the Rebellion, but just fucking listen for a second.) This Christmas, added levels, playable characters, and an expanded story await us in the SW: TFU – Ultimate Sith Edition. This will also be DLC if you own the first version.
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed was, well, unleashed on every platform known to man. With the iPhone gaming scene catching fire, it’s only natural that the new title would drop over onto Apple’s little device. This handheld edition takes a different approach to the title, moving away from the action/adventure style of every other version and going with a game where you just draw on the iPhone touchscreen.
Graphically, the game is impressive for the platform. The artistic backgrounds look fantastic, although you provide a stark contrast to the block-ish character models. Animations are great though, especially when you’re throwing enemies around with your Force powers. From a sound perspective, The Force Unleashed is just okay. The background music fits in with the genre, but there is zero voice over in the game. I guess that’s what we’re going to have to expect from iPhone titles.
LucasArts is pretty damn happy right now. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed has sold over 1.5 million copies worldwide within it’s first week of release.
“The record-setting sales of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed shows the undiminished power of Star Wars and its popularity across all media types, including video games,” said Darrell Rodriguez, president of LucasArts. “We’re blown away by the response to the game.”
These sales make The Force Unleashed the fastest selling Star Wars game of all time. Pretty damn good. The game isn’t bad, but it’s not terrific either. We’ll have a full review soon.
You can chalk another achievement to the people over at LucasArts. SW: TFU had wowed many a fan with the gameplay trailers and promised total control over your surroundings with a truly original backstory. Now, many a gamer has downloaded the demo on the Xbox 360 and the PS3. 2.3 Million of them. Truly amazing. Now we have to see if the game is a force of its own. Double Pun FTW.
Any fan of the Star Wars universe was hard as a diamond in an ice storm when we first got a glimpse of the trailer for TFU. After many jaw-dropping videos and demonstrations, we finally get a chance to play as Starkiller, Vader’s secret apprentice. The premise of the game is simple. You have every kind of force power at your disposal and you have to carry out missions for your master no matter what. The demo is a great look at what the game could be but I felt left short on their promise to deliver a huge demo experience.
Here is a little easter egg you can find in the demo for the SW: TFU. The demo is fun as hell and gives great insight to what they game is and could be. The demo was a lot shorter than I had anticipated and did not have the amount of content I would have liked. You’ll hear all of my insights on Monday with full impressions of the demo.
Oh shit yeah! My life as a Sith Apprentice is about to begin. LucasArts will be releasing a demo for The Force Unleashed this Thursday on both the Xbox 360 an PS3.
According to Marketing Manager at LucasArts, Matt Shell, the demo will be “a special version of the Tie Fighter Construction Facility, where players will have access to extra force powers and a “super secret” ending to the level not found in the final version of the game.”
Sounds good to me. Can’t wait to rock this out on Thursday.
One month away. So close until we can force choke a wookie or run a saber through an unsuspecting storm trooper. Here is the world exclusive trailer. Watch in awe and countdown until September 16th.
I’m going to be all over this like a fat kid on a cupcake. iPhone gaming is really ramping up and THQ looks to take full advantage of the new platform by bringing The Force Unleashed to Apple’s mobile phone. Check out a bit of the game in action and drool until we can actually play this.
Even casual fans of SW:TFU are eagerly waiting the inevitable demo that is coming our way. We have been told its August, but an exact date has not been revealed. More importantly, the demo will have content that is not in the full version. Pretty awesome. This is great news because we won’t get some half-assed walkthrough or a random level only to end when the game gets good. NG2 anyone? There will be an ending to the demo that we all can enjoy. It will be on both XBL and PSN. Listen up for the exact date. Force lightning in a Wookie’s ass FTW.
