Caveat Emptor: Buying Video Games From China on eBay

This is an original feature to Loot Ninja.  Caveat Emptor is a legal term for “Buyer Beware”.  We give you the heads up on mistakes we have made buying things.

This week: Buying Video Games From China on eBay.

Mistake: Believing that you can buy a copy of Tetris for the DS from China for your wife so she can get in to gaming and you will actually receive a copy of Tetris for the DS.

Reality: The doorbell rings and you package from the Far East is waiting for you. The second you open it, you realize that there is trouble afoot. This is not the game you ordered. This is not even a legit game at all.

Outcome: The fuckstick who swindled you in China has not only sent you Tetris for the DS, he has not sent you a licensed DS game. Breaking the honor code of eBay, he has sent you your very own bootleg copy of Super Mario Bros DS. The game is in Mandarin Chinese, which you don’t speak. The game does not work, in which you are not surprised. He could have sent you 3 boxes of butt plugs which you or your wife could have at least gotten some use out of.

Final price: Your wife thinks you are a jackass because you can’t even buy a game right. Your 20 bucks is in the hand of some scumbag. You are left with the video game equivalent of frozen duck shit. Your trust in mankind is fading and that charity you sometimes give to can go fuck themselves.

Caveat Emptor: Matt Banks who bought Tetris DS for his wife so she could get into gaming and allowing her to get dick slapped from 9000 miles away.

Retro Review: Tetrisphere (Nintendo 64)

Developer: H20 Entertainment Publisher: Nintendo

Platform: Nintendo 64 Release Date: August 11th, 1997

It’s a shame that so few people remember this game. But those that do have very fond memories, I’ll tell you what! Don’t forget that this game was originally called Phear by Atari, who lost it in 1995. All you Tetris purists out there probably want to know that if you didn’t already.

The concept is pretty straightforward. Tetris + Layers + Sphere = Awesome. The goal is to reach the core (complete with cute little googly-eyes and everything) by eliminating several layers that surround it. It takes a few minutes to adjust to the sphere aspect of the classic game. But when you do, you have one of the most enjoyable and engaging versions of Tetris ever conceived.

So let’s jump in and show you what you’ve been missing, yeah?

Review: Tetris (iPhone)

Tetris iPhone Screen 1

Tetris has been a staple of the gaming world for years. If you’ve never played any version of the hit puzzle game, you should have your gaming card revoked. No matter what gaming platform exists, someone somewhere will make a version of Tetris. The iPhone is no different as EA has stepped up to bring everyone’s favorite block dropping game to Apple’s mobile phone.

For those of you who may have lived under a rock for the past 20 years, let me break down Tetris for you. Seven different shapes block fall with your goal to rotate and move the pieces to form horizontal lines. Once you do, that line disappears and whatever is above it drops to fill the gaps. The more lines at once, the bigger the score. You get the picture.
