People need motivation. If they didn’t, then why is every single meeting room in America littered with small quips pasted with pictures of seagulls flying or of some serene background? I say it is time we unmotivate people. Every Thursday, I will do my best to unmotivate you from doing something and make you laugh in the process. Nothing says productivity like spending your day laughing at the shortcomings of others.
What do you mean Bowser’s not so bad? Who the F**K is Smithey?!
Hot damn it’s good to see Squaresoft and Nintendo getting along together again. Of course, some of you may not remember the rough spot in the companies’ history – it wasn’t pretty to say the least.
And one of the best examples of this reunion is the re-release of Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars for the Wii. This is a favorite even among the RPG elitists.
I’m sure by now that a many of you know SMB2s dark little secret (though probably less so these days..damned information age). In 1988 the release of the newest Mario game was in fact not a Mario game at all. But a conversion by Nintendo of a game called Yume Kōjō:Doki Doki Panic (“Dream Factory: Heart-Pounding Panic”)- a game based on a story of a family – Papa, Imajin, Lina, and Mama – go out on in adventure in an Arabian novel (known as ‘Subcon’ in SMB2). And of course people feel two ways about this: those who believe that because of the characters were Mario based that it was a true Mario Game. Then there are those who believe that because the game was not designed to be a Mario game from the ground up, it didn’t warrant a ‘real’ Mario label. I suppose both sides have a point. Although Miyamoto did have a heavier involvement in DDP than the actual SMB2 in Japan (the lost levels here).
As for myself – I hate to say it, but I lean towards the ‘not a Mario game’ slot. For me it has to do with the initial intent (but hey, that’s me).
Whoever created this has entirely too much time on their hands. But we get to enjoy it either way. Check out level 1-2 of Super Mario Brothers recreated in Legos. Awesome
This is something you just need to see. This is a rare user vid that is worth watching. Imagine the world of Mario infested with the Halo Universe. You get this. If this was an actual game for sale, you know people would buy it. Granted the graphics are way out of the times, well, thats not the point here. Very cool.
Nintendo sent over the final artwork for the PAL edition of Super Mario Galaxy. Don’t expect much to change for the rest of the world, except the rating image.
Nintendo always has some really cool box art for their first party games, and this isn’t an exception. I’m still not sold on the concept of the game. I know the controls work great, but bouncing around from planet to planet mid-level just doesn’t feel like a Mario game to me.
Nintendo was sandwiched in the middle off E3 with the second press conference from the three console manufacturers. And just how did they do? There were some new game trailers and some new games/controllers announced (click here for more in depth coverage).
So what did everyone here at Loot Ninja think of the press conference? Read on to find out.
drunk pandas: With Nintendo, I was expecting a lot of games, since there is a great lack right now. The great Reggie-nator showed up some videos of Super Mario Galaxy (with a release date), announced Mario Kart for the Wii with online play, showed off the wheel for Mario Kart, and announced the Wii Zapper accessory. I can’t say I wasn’t disappointed by all of this. The Wii, for many people, has been lacking quality titles to really give a reason to play the system.
Ever wonder what would happen if someone created Level 1-1 of the original Super Mario Brothers in Line Rider? Well, wonder no more, because user ScRYeD has done it.
What ever happened to Line Rider coming to the DS? This could be huge with the stylus.
I have no idea what this guy is doing on a game show or why he is doing but he is definitely beating level 1-1 in Super Mario Bros 1 while not looking at the screen once.
