If You Pay to See Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li, You Should be Slapped

Street Fighter The Legend of Chun-Li

I know we all hope for good gaming movies, but every time, the movie sucks donkey balls. The next in the list is Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li. The movie is flat out horrible.

At press time, the movie has a 0% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which is an aggravate of almost all reviews. There’s an average of a 2.1/10 rating based on 20 reviews. Ouch.

If you pay to see this, I point and laugh in your face. This could be one of the absolute worst gaming movies, which isn’t saying much. Maybe we can get a decent game movie at some point? Maybe? No?

Street Fighter Alpha Coming to PSN Tomorrow

Street Fighter Alpha

Capcom hinted at a nice surprise for PS3 gamers in the Street Fighter universe, and now we know what’s coming. Street Fighter Alpha, the PS1 Classic, is dropping Thursday for the PS3 and PSP.

It’s been a long time since we’ve seen any new PS1 Classics released, so it’s good to see a decent title getting some love. Can’t say this one is a surprise, either, since the ESRB rated it a long time ago.

Will you be picking this one up on Thursday?

Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix Beta Gets Patched

SF2 HD Remix Screen

Remember that patch we told you about for Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix? It’s out now. Your crash issues will go away and the game will work much better.

A whole heap of issues have been fixed other than the crashing to make the gameplay that much better. Capcom has poured a lot of heart and soul into this one and it really shows. Can’t wait for the final game to ship later this summer.

Capcom Patching SSFIITHDR Beta

SF2 HD Remix Screen

That’s right folks. Those of you who’s 360’s are crashing from the Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix Beta are in luck. Even though Capcom said they wouldn’t be, a patch is in the works.

No word on what they’re fixing, but they’re fixing it. We tried to get in touch with Capcom, but have yet to hear back. Stay tuned.

Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix Beta Impressions

SF2 HD Remix Screen

I spent a good deal of time the past week with the Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix Beta. I’m not typing that again, so I’ll call it SSFIITHDR Beta from now on. That’s just as hard to type. We’ll figure something out.

If you’re in your late 20’s to early 30’s, you grew up with Street Fighter II (and it’s various iterations) in the arcades. I spent countless hours and thousands of quarters perfecting my fighting regimen. And trust me when I say I was damn good back then. When Street Fighter II was announced for the Xbox Live Arcade, I got all antsy in the pantsy. Sadly, the game didn’t turn out to be the faithful recreation we had all hoped, mainly because of the controls with the difficult Xbox 360 D-pad. I was a bit skeptical at first when I heard Capcom would be turning the game into an HD Remix, mainly because of said controls. After spending a week with the game, I’m happy to report they did it right. The controls feel very solid using the left analog stick. Takes you back to rocking the joystick on the arcade machines of days past. You can customize the button layout to your liking, which is a huge plus since we’re not working with 6 face buttons (I miss you, Sega Genesis 6-button controller).

Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix Beta Launched, Broken

SF2 HD Remix Screen

The SSFIITHDR Beta launched today on the Xbox 360 and some people are pissed off. Buy some people, I mean pretty much everyone playing the game. The Beta is locking up hardcore to the point where you have to power down your 360. Yikes. Worst part? Capcom has no plans to fix it.

“We will not be patching the beta… resubmissions would cost a fortune and not go live for weeks even if we had (MS would have to reapprove every submission). This isn’t like the PC where a developer can make changes daily (for good or ill). All feedback and bugs will be factored into the final code.”

So if you bought Wolf of the Battlefield for no reason other than to get into the Street Fighter Beta, you got screwed. Hard. With no lube. I haven’t attempted the play the Beta yet, but I’m not expecting much given the major problems being reported.

Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix – Akuma Screens

Akuma 1

That was a mouthful. That’s what she said.

Capcom posted a few pretty screens of Akuma from the upcoming Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix. I’m very much looking forward to this title, so I hope it all gets buttoned up soon.

Liu Kang Actor Casted in Street Fighter:The Legend of Chun Li

It seems like the new Street Fighter movie might not be casting the worst actors on the planet this time around. The movie will focus on Chun Li, who will be the protagonist in the film and we will see her characters rise to, well, fame I guess. Her master, Gen, will be played by Robin Shou, the same actor who played Liu Kang in the MK movies as well as sidekick in Beverly Hills Ninja. Could this be a miserable movie? Maybe. If they keep using some decent cast, it might be worth watching. On cable.

Capcom: New Street Fighter Live Action Movie Underway; This is Not a Joke

As you know, we get press releases from developers all the time and its great because we know they are true. Sometimes, we wonder if they are putting peyote in the coffee.

There WILL be a new live action SF movie coming out in 2009. This is already in motion. In case you have not seen the 1991 debacle, click here. I wrote all about it.
