Street Fighter IV Sells 2 Million Copies

Street Fighter 4 Screen 2

It is not often that a game lives up to its potential. It is even more rare when a game shatters expectations. You can put Street Fighter IV in the latter category. Capcom has released a statement saying that SF IV, the arcade phenom, has sold 2 million console copies. In today’s economic climate, that is nothing short of remarkable. Factor in that the game is a fighter as opposed to the more well versed genre such as FPS, MMO, etc.  Capcom killed it with SF IV. People are already buzzing how they plan to top it. Street Fighter IV Leaked for Xbox 360

Street Fighter IV PS3 Collectors Edition

Ninjas and pirates are supposed to get along. There are dodgeball games that express that same sentiment. In this case, ninjas do not like pirates. Gaming piracy is a huge concern in the industry and they have successfully leaked SF IV for the Xbox 360.

Torrent sites are being assaulted by players eager to test out this long awaited title, as there are still quite a lot of days until the retail release of the game in Japan, February 12, North America, February 19, and last but not least, Europe on February 20. Also, let’s not forget that the PC version of the game still doesn’t have a concrete release date, as Capcom wants people to buy the title for the consoles first.

This is not cool. Not to sound like a hypocrite as we all used Napster back in the day. Yet, this is different. We all object to paying $60 for games fully knowing what it costs to develop games that are worth paying $60 for. However, condoning such acts is almost as bad as doing it. Expect to see the mighty banhammer come down on anyone with a bootleg copy who tries to sign on into XBL.

Maxim: 50 Cent Game Better Than Killzone 2 and Street Fighter

One of the best selling men’s magazines in the world has just released their review of 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand and they have rated it better than both Killzone 2 and SF IV.  Yeah, that just happened. Killzone 2 got 3.5 of 5 circles (they use circles instead of stars), SF IV received 3 of 5 and 50 Cent received 4 of 5. Since I have not played any of the games yet, I cannot honestly say that they are wrong, but really?  If this is true, expect Sony fanboys to be jumping from bridges everywhere.

Street Fighter IV: Ken vs. Sagat Gameplay

These guys are good. From the combo management to knowing the placement and timing of each attack, I’d never be able to hang with these guys. I was the shit back in the day at Street Fighter 2, but I’ve lost my touch. These guys (or girls) clearly have it.

Street Fighter IV: Fei Long vs. Cammy Gameplay

Check out Cammy whoop some ass in Street Fighter IV. This is one of the console versions, not the arcade. Not too much longer, folks, and we’ll be playing this at home. Can’t wait!

Belated Happy Holidays Greeting from Capcom

Better late than never, I suppose, but here is a holiday greeting from Capcom, M. Bison more specifically. A nice way of spreading some holiday cheer as we all furiously wait for SF IV to finally hit the shelves. Until that, enjoy.

Street Fighter IV Collector’s Edition Detailed

Capcom shot word over about the upcoming Collector’s Edition of Street Fighter IV. You get a lot of stuff here for the $79.99 premium for the game. Here’s the goods from the press release:

  • The game (duh)
  • A limited-edition (ie., not sold anywhere else) figurine – Ryu in the PS3 box, C. Viper hotness in the 360 flavor. Decisions, decisions…
  • Street Fighter IV: The Ties That Bind: a 65 minute anime movie — created by Studio 4C — that sets up the story of SFIV by explaining events post-SFII. BluRay disc in the PS3 box! The Xbox version is a 360 game disc that outputs the movie at 720P, not a DVD.
  • A mini-strategy guide from Prima, written by the same people doing the full-on guide and illustrated by Udon Comics
  • CD soundtrack. Rock SFIV stage chunez in your car!
  • …Plus some secret additional downloadable content that we’re not quite ready to reveal at this point. Look for more announcements soon!

I will definitely be getting the PS3 version based on this. I’m a huge huge fan of gaming related toys and figures and Ryu trumps C. Viper in my book any day. Plus, the PS3 has a better d-pad, which I always prefer for fighting games. Which will you be getting, if any?

Street Fighter IV – Bison vs Seth Gameplay

Holy dookers I want this game. The release date can’t come fast enough (unlike Scuba). Check out some gameplay of Bison vs. Seth. Just a note, Bison is called Vega over there in Japan. Why the hell the named got changed in the rest of the world back is just plain stupid. Either way, watch the beautiful glorious battle.

Street Fighter IV – Ryu vs Sagat

If you aren’t excited for SF IV yet, this will take care of that. The original rivalry, Ryu takes on the man he defeated to win the World Warriors tournement so many years ago. That scar on Sagat’s chest? A well placed dragon uppercut from Ryu. Game play looks solid and I can’t wait to get my hands on this.

Street Fighter IV: Vega vs Chun Li

What is more deadly,  a creepy spanish guy in a metal mask or a chinese girl with super thighs and can kick a thousand times? I’m not sure, but this video will give you a look what you will be able to find out firsthand. My money is on the matador.
