Want to see how a digitized Edward Norton translates to video games? So do I. Here’s the exclusive premier that was aired on GameTrailers TV last night.
I’m not sure how I feel about this one. Sure, it looks pretty, but the past few Hulk games have been far from good. And games based on movies based on comic books also have a pretty poor track record. We’ll see though.
The last Armored Core game was less than spectacular and gamers are hoping for a really good mech based game. The visuals here look great, but creating a great intro means nothing if the game sucks. Here is hoping Sega does a great job this time around.
NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams on the Wii is very unique compared to any other titles out there, but is almost identical to its Saturn original counterpart. It is a spin off of the classic Sega Saturn NiGHTS game from the late 1990’s, now updated with Wii controls. The game is great as a sequel, but a lot has happened in the last ten years that make this title a bit dated.
Presentation & Graphics:
Very vibrant game that tries hard to be unique, but at times falls on it’s face. The cutesy design gives way to some odd shaped bosses and grows tiring eventually. If you enjoyed the graphics of the original NiGHTS then this will be right up your alley. Nothing next-gen to see here folks, keep on moving. 6.5 of 10 Read More »
Sega announced that they will not skimp out on voice acting on their upcoming Iron Man game, as they will use the actors from the movie to voice the game as well. So expect to hear some Robert Downey and Terrence Howard on your console, which I think this will be a nice touch for the game. Interestingly enough, this game is also scheduled to come out the same day as the movie. Typically, video games based on movies come out before the movie to try and cash in, but perhaps this one will be good enough to stand on it’s own merit?
SAN FRANCISCO & LONDON (March 20, 2008) –SEGA® of America, Inc., SEGA Europe Ltd., and Marvel Entertainment, Inc. announced today that the Iron Man™ video game, based on the successful Marvel comic book series and the upcoming film by Marvel Studios, will feature the voice talents of Robert Downey Jr., Terence Howard and Shaun Toub. All three actors will reprise their onscreen roles of Tony Stark (Downey), Lt. Col. James “Rhodey” Rhodes (Howard), and Yinsen (Toub). The Iron Man video game launches day and date with the blockbuster movie on May 2, 2008.

Sega sent out a new trailer today for the upcoming Iron Man game, scheduled for release later this Spring. From everything we’ve seen so far, the game looks promising. But there has been a fairly negative record of good superhero games, especially those based upon movies. Only time will tell.
I got to spend a little bit of time today talking with Steve Lycett and Travis Ryan of Sumo Digital, the developers behind Sega Superstars Tennis. We discussed a lot of topics surrounding the game’s development and upcoming release.
For starters, Sega Superstars Tennis utilizes the core game engine from Virtua Tennis, so you know the gameplay will be solid. The goal at Sumo Digital was to make tennis more accessible and fun for everyone by pulling classic characters from the Sega universe. In total, 16 characters will be available for you to choose from. Each character will provide their own style of play and special moves, with these deriving from that character’s past in Sega franchises. For example, Sonic will be a fast player with special moves surrounding his spin attacks. Not all of the development team’s favorite characters made the cut, however, due to time and the way they characters would fit into the feel of the game.
I have to say these are some hardcore people to put some of these tattoos on their bodies forever. I am pretty sure the guy that put the Gameboy tattoo on himself has a tough time getting women to talk to him or at least will have a hard time explaining that to his kids. The ones I don’t understand is getting the company name on your body like the Nintendo or Sega tattoos?! That is nuts and unless those companies pay me to do that I am gonna pass. Some of the tattoos were pretty cool, like the Halo legendary tattoo on the guys back and the Quake tattoo on the girls chest, but the Raccoon Mario on your neck just screams I am a loser!
Have you ever wanted to use the wiimote as a fishing pole outside of the mini games in Zelda? You now get that chance with Sega Bass Fishing. Are you a master baiter? Find out here. Grab your pole and go!
Ironically I was just talking about this game in my other post and the news of the different multiplayer modes were just sent over via a press release. The addition of online multiplayer to Condemned 2: Bloodshot is much welcomed and spells out good things for this game. I like the Crime Scene mode where one team faces the other in an evidence finding versus hiding mission, it’s like Scooby Doo all over again.
From the press release:
SAN FRANCISCO (January 22, 2008) – SEGA® of America, Inc. today announced the exciting and all-new multiplayer modes that will be playable in Condemned 2: Bloodshot™, the next chapter in the terrifying series that is slated to ship in North America on March 11, 2008 for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system.
Sega released some new screens today for Iron Man, which is set to hit store shelves in the Spring. The movie is set for release on May 2nd, so I would expect the game to come out right around the same time.
From the initial gameplay videos and the screens, the game looks promising. But we all know how most superhero games turn out. I hope Sega does Iron Man justice.
