E3 wrapped up on Thursday afternoon and I had a bunch of pictures to post, but unfortunately my laptop didn’t want to cooperate. Now that I’m home, it’s time to get back to writing and getting you my thoughts on all the games I got to play.

I made my way over to the South Hall on Wednesday for the first time. There’s some mammoth booths over there including Microsoft, Ubisoft, and EA. It seems that more of the “showy” things are other there, with booth babes and gaming characters walking around. It’s a blast either way!

Sony’s stage was enormous, although not as flashy as what was seen at Microsoft. No one could match the sheer size of their video screens though, spanning 40′ x 80′ in size. The sound system matched what was heard at the Microsoft event, with chest pounding bass thumping along to the gameplay trailers and demos.

Nintendo held their E3 09 Press Briefing at Club Nokia, next door the LA Convention Center. It’s a much smaller venue than those used by both Microsoft and Sony, and the stage reflected that cramped feeling. The screens were nice, showing off HD video even though none of Nintendo’s products work in HD.

The show floor officially opened Tuesday and it’s official: E3 is back to its proper place. The booths are huge, the music is pumping, and everyone is excited on the show floor. I didn’t get to spent much time on the floor Tuesday between press briefings and appointments, but what I saw was pretty damn awesome. Tomorrow I’ll have shots from more booths and probably a few scantily clad Booth Babes.

Ubisoft’s press briefing was… interesting. More on that to follow, but first, it’s time to see how it all looked. The room was small and hot and the sound system was entirely too loud. If you’re press conference host needs to comment to that effect… yeah. Also, entirely too much reading from teleprompters.

Microsoft’s E09 Press Briefing stage was impressive, to say the least. Multiple staging areas, three huge screens, and some crazy ass lighting. The 5.1 channel sound system thumped the shit out of your chest too. Nothing short of awesome.
For the rest of the “Scenes from…” posts, I’ll be directing your to my Flickr account, where I’ll be posting all of my images from E3. It’s a bit easier and faster that way, so follow me on Flickr to get the latest pictures. I’ll even be uploading things there from my iPhone.
