The Offspring was pretty huge in the late 90s and early 2000’s. I had a few of their CD’s, one of which had Gone Away. I liked it then, I like it now. The song was released this week as DLC in Rock Band, so naturally we’ve got an expert drum run for you here. Fire it up, people. Fire it the fuck up.
Wal-Mart is going to have some exclusive AC/DC content for Rock Band soon with a standalone disc of one of their concerts, the Castle Donington Show in 1991. It’ll run you $39.99 for the 18 tracks. It’s completely standalone, so you can play through the Tour mode, although there will be no Score Duel, Tug of War, or any online components. The good news is that you can export the tracks (only one time per disc is allowed) to your Xbox 360 or PS3 to play them in the normal version of Rock Band and Rock Band 2. Sorry, Wii and PS2 owners, no exporting for you.
Since the product is standalone, it will include unique Achievements and Trophies. Some of them will be song specific, the others we just don’t know about yet. Stay tuned on this one as a bunch of people will be spending the money to get the extra whoring points, you can bet on it.
I keep typing September and hitting backspace for all these “edition” posts. Need to get it through my skull that we’re in October. Anyway… This week’s Rock Band DLC features a bunch of content, most notably a track pack from The Offspring. Check it out:

I have realized over the course of time and a lot of gaming that all my years of playing videos has actually begun to affect me physically. No I am not becoming retarded or blind, but instead I think I am developing Carpal Tunnel Syndrome in my hands, specifically my left hand. This is probably due to the years of playing on a PC with my fingers precariously hovering over the WASD keys to circle and strafe in Quake and move around in Starcraft.
I noticed now that if I play with my PSP or DS for more than thirty minutes my hand begins to feel uncomfortable and if I play Guitar Hero or Rock Band for too long it is even worse. I would have never thought that gaming and using a PC would mess me up, but here I am. Carpal Tunnel stinks, it makes your hand numb and you feel pain that is just not fun. It probably does not help that I spend almost all day on a PC typing and doing things like writing articles.
It’s baaaaaaaaaaaaack. Rush’s Moving Pictures album is making a triumphant return to the Rock Band DLC catelog. After some technical issues and a few week delay, you’ll be able to grab it all for $10.99 (880 MS Points) or $1.99 (160 MS Points) each. Here’s the track list:
Tom Sawyer (orig version)
Red Barchetta
YYZ
Limelight (orig version)
The Camera Eye
Witch Hunt
Vital Signs
To go along with the full album, a bunch of individual tracks will also be available. It looks like Harmonix is really stepping up the DLC after the Xbox 360 release of Rock Band 2. Here’s what else you can grab:
Bad Religion - Sorrow
The Cult - She Sells Sanctuary
Hot Hot Heat - Bandages
Kasabian - Shoot the Runner
Sleater-Kinney - You’re No Rock N Roll Fun
Stone Roses - Love Spreads
Standard pricing applies ($1.99 or 160 MS Points each) and everything will be available at the usual times (Tuesday on 360, Thursday on PS3). Rock it out, friends. Rock it out.
Free guitars with your pre-order of Guitar Hero is a pretty sweet deal. To be more exact it is a free bass guitar for UK gamers with your pre-order and I can only imagine that this is while supplies last and not for everyone that pre-orders.
Activision UK has announced “the biggest pre-order incentive the industry has ever seen” as it gears up for November’s anticipated release of Guitar Hero World Tour.
Gamers who pre-order the ‘super bundle’ – containing the game, drum kit, guitar and microphone – will receive a free Guitar Hero bass guitar, which currently retails for approximately £50.
An interesting concept to help boost sales of Guitar Hero especially since they got beat to the market by Rock Band 2 by a few weeks. Unfortunately this is only slated for the UK so far and I do not know how helpful this is for people that already own a bunch of instruments, how many extra guitars will you need before you can’t sit in your living room anymore?
As someone who purchased the PS3 version of the original Rock Band and since I could not wait to grab the new PS3 version of Rock Band 2 in a few weeks, I picked up a copy for the Xbox 360. Armed with my original Guitar Hero II guitar and my PS3 Rock Band microphone I endeavored to play some Rock Band 2. Here is my tale…
I dusted off my original Guitar Hero II guitar stickers and all that resides behind a couch and found out that it works perfectly fine with the game and allows me to play the lead guitar and bass with absolutely no problems. I then tried to get crafty and see if my PS3 instruments may work on my Xbox 360, I know it was wishful thinking but I had to try it. Read More »
