They just keep pumping these retros out, so fast that we can’t keep up. Here are parts 5 and 6 to give you some idea with the doings in Raccoon City. We’ll have the review for Resident Evil 5 for you sometime next week. Until then, check it out.
The awesome Resident Evil retrospective continues with part 4 of the kick ass series that delves into the convoluted story that is Raccoon City and beyond. This installment goes into the online portion and the handheld iterations. Check it out for more info on the award winning saga.
Just in case you missed part 2, as I did, here it is along with part 3 of the very cool Resident Evil Retrospective that GT is doing. These are always very informative and entertaining. There is no way I would have known what was going on in MGS4 if not for this.
One thing that GT does better than anyone is the retrospectives they make. From Star Wars to World of Warcraft, they give great insight to franchises we all know and love but don’t know everything.
Next up, Resident Evil. Take a scary trip down memory lane.
Raccoon City has been destroyed and the T-virus was thought to be finally gone. Nope. We get the fourth installation of the movie series, but this movie is going the the way of Beowulf. This trailer sheds a little light on the next chapter. I don’t know how I feel about CGI movies, but we can expect some intense visuals. This was displayed at Comic Con out in San Diego. Expect more news when we get a release date.
Word around the water cooler is suggesting that Microsoft has made a very large cash offer to Capcom to make Resident Evil 5 a timed exclusive for the Xbox 360. How much money and how long the exclusivity will last is unknown.
Something like this honestly wouldn’t surprise me. We all know Microsoft dropped $50 million on Rockstar for the exclusive GTA4 DLC which hasn’t materialized yet. Just how big do they thing RE5 is going to be? Is it worth that much cash to secure it for the 360 for a couple months? Microsoft has some deep pockets. We’ll see what happens when E3 rolls around next month.
Capcom unleashed a new trailer for Resident Evil 5 at their media event this week. The world premiere was on GameTrailer TV on SpikeTV last night, and we have it here for your viewing pleasure.
One of the few games on the Wii that is intended for people over the age of 6 has hit that magical million number that truly justifies the game as a hit. Capcom just released to us a press release confirming that the game has hit 1 million gamers worldwide. I’m hoping that this trend of big kid games keeps it up. My Wii is getting very dusty. I can only bowl so many times. Hit the jump for the official press release.
The trailer has only been out for a couple weeks, but already Resident Evil 5 is catching some major heat for being racist. You can catch the trailer here if you haven’t seen it yet.
Black Looks, a blog devoted to African women, has called the game’s plot into question.
The new Resident Evil video game depicts a white man in what appears to be Africa killing Black people. The Black people are supposed to be zombies and the white man’s job is to destroy them and save humanity…
This is problematic on so many levels, including the depiction of Black people as inhuman savages, the killing of Black people by a white man in military clothing, and the fact that this video game is marketed to children and young adults. Start them young… fearing, hating, and destroying Black people.
I’m not going to say they’re wrong here. The trailer can definitely be construed that way. I don’t think Capcom had any intentions of racism in the game. I think they were trying to set the game in Africa this go-around. That’s just my 2 cents, but I can see where Black Looks is coming from. What do you think? Let us know in the comments.
