New Red vs. Blue Series in Development

Everyone’s favorite machinima Halo series is making a comeback in the near future. Red vs. Blue: Reconstruction will hitting a web browser near you in the coming months.

Reconstruction takes place at Outpost 17-B “Valhalla” and looks to sport an entirely new cast. It’s a shame, because I’m pretty fond on Grif and Donut. I went so far as to name my hard drives after them (Sarge gets honorable mention as my Time Machine drive).

Halo 3: Red vs Blue - D.I.Y.

If you are a fan of the groundbreaking machinima series, Red vs Blue, you will definitely enjoy this latest installment. If you are a Halo fan and have no idea what I am talking about, well, I wouldn’t really call you a Halo fan now would I? These guys are funny as hell. The series is supposed to be now defunct, but I’m sure they have some more things to come.

Yesterday we brought you the news that Red vs. Blue was coming back for a 5 part series on the introduction of Halo 3. Today, the first part of that series is up on Gamestop’s website.

Red vs Blue is Back

red-vs-blue.jpgThe beloved machinima series makes its return to help promote the upcoming Halo 3 release reports Filefront. Although I was not aware that Halo needed anymore hype, myself and thousands more will be stoked to see the series make a brief comeback. Here is the official press release:

In anticipation of the big launch of Halo® 3 in September, a five-episode special edition of Red vs. Blue will premiere at participating retail websites starting on Tuesday, July 31. The episodes feature Sarge preparing Donut, Simmons, and the rest of his soldiers for the upcoming move from Halo 2 into Halo 3.Red vs. Blue is a pioneering video series created by Rooster Teeth that uses Halo® characters to act out a continuing story. The animation is created in real-time by using a video game engine to power the visuals. Graham Leggat of the San Francisco film society, dubbed Red vs. Blue the “first masterpiece of machinima.” This very popular “machinima” series, which has a huge online following, spans five seasons and 100 episodes, and it portrays the adventures of two groups of rather unwilling soldiers in an isolated canyon called Blood Gulch.

With clever dialogue and engaging characters, the series has won four awards from the Academy of Machinima Arts & Sciences. Rooster Teeth also created the machinima series 1-800-MAGIC, based on the world of Shadowrun. Episodes of Red vs. Blue are available on Xbox LIVE® Marketplace, or you can find out more by visiting their official site.

On July 31, look for the first of the all-new Red vs. Blue episodes at the following retailers.

Goodbye Red vs. Blue… We’ll Miss You

In what could be termed the most successful and widespread machinima series ever, Red vs. Blue will be ending it’s run today with it’s 100th episode.

The show has spanned over 5 years since the first Halo game came out for the original Xbox. It has been set in various Halo maps, across games (the dreaded void between Halo and Halo 2), and even in older Bungie games. The series has been adopted by Microsoft and is available on the Xbox Live Marketplace.

If you don’t want to see the show go, make sure to pick up the DVDs and other merchandise from their website.
