Destruction, friends, beer. All elements of a great night for a gamers, which Red Faction Guerrilla promises to provide. Volition and THQ return us to the red planet in the role of a terrorist and insurgent, which is surprisingly fun despite the negative stigma attached to the role in this day and age. Your mission is blow up everything of the bad guys’ and follow some stereotypical summer movie plot line. In this installment of the Red Faction series the focus of destruction is on buildings, beautiful explosions dismembering man-made objects and baddies too.

Do you like blowing stuff up? Do you? Do you? I sure do. I like blowing stuff up action movie style. You know, beating some guy to death with a hammer, setting a few remote mines near well placed explosive barrels, then shooting some baddies as I steal a truck, causing the enemy come running after me just as I detonate the mines blowing up all the buildings and most of the baddies. For the guys who survived, I’ll drive the truck through the flaming wreckage and run them down.
That was the first 5 minutes of gameplay for me in Red Faction: Guerrilla. The opening sequence plays like a movie, including Action Movie Voice Over Guy. The story? Do you really care? Fine, it’s about one man, blowing stuff up to right the wrongs of the oppressor corporation/government on Mars or something, didn’t you listen to the Voice Over Guy?

Wahoo! I get something first!
This weekend THQ released codes to members of their website to download the Red Faction: Guerrilla demo via either PSN or Xbox Live. Codes are available on a first-come-first-serve basis and are in limited supply and the demo is single player only. I don’t know how many codes they will allow but I can tell you that they are still available. My download is 48% complete. I suggest you make your way over by clicking the link below and registering on the THQ website. Don’t waste your time if you are outside Europe, the codes are region locked.
