New downloadable games are in store Wii gamers with the launch of WiiWare in North America. The list of games we posted yesterday is official. Here’s the first batch of titles available today:
- Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King – 1500 Wii points
- Lost Winds – 1000 Wii points
- Defend Your Castle – 500 Wii points
- Pop – 700 Wii points
- V.I.P. Casino: Blackjack – 700 Wii points
- TV Show King – 1000 Wii points
New games will be released on Mondays with the Virtual Console updates. I doubt we’ll be getting a new game every week, but I’d except a decent amount of titles to be released in the near future. Now if we could only resolve that pesky storage space issue…

Iron Mike is back. The now D List celebrity has his likeness finally back into video games as EA announced he will be a character in Fight Night Round 4. I would pit 1987 Mike Tyson against anyone. Now a circus act, the once great champion will be a featured character in the awesome boxing series. I hope they do 80’s Mike with the high and tight haircut and black shorts as opposed to the tattooed and over the hill Tyson. Think I’m full of shit. Click more for the press release.

A great franchise is getting back on its feet after some lackluster titles thanks to Ubisoft bringing Prince of Persia back to the forefront. PoP: The Sands of Time was outstanding and The Enemy Within was god awful. Its good to see a old story get reinvented instead of trying to sell us some new character we could give two fucks about. Not too much has been said other than the game should be ready by the end of this year. Here is the official press release.

Want to see some locusts get jacked up in cool art styles? Your chance is coming as DC Comics will be brining Marcus, Dom, and all your favorite chainsaw wielding heroes to the comics. The series is set to come from DC’s WildStorm publishing imprint in October.
“Big guns and monsters — what a perfect comic book for WildStorm! We have an opportunity to work closely with Epic to add to the canon of the Gears of War mythos, so you can imagine how excited we all are, said Hank Kanalz, VP – General Manager, WildStorm. “Epic sets the bar very high, in graphics, story, and gameplay — and expect no less from our series, starting with our lead-in arc that fills in the gaps between the first game and the upcoming sequel.”
Could be good. Hopefully they come up with a good storyline and don’t just take what’s in the games.

Nintendo sent out a press release to officially confirm what Gamestop had already told us: Wii Fit will cost $89.99 in the US and will be released May 19th.
The price seems pretty decent, given the fact you’re getting the game and the Balance Board. I would highly suggest preordering this one if you’re interested. It’s going to be pretty hard to get, just like the Wii itself.
Thanks to everyone who tipped this one.

So this press release came across my desk a couple days ago. But I’ve struggled to wrap my around it for a little while. 50 Cent, otherwise known as Curtis Jackson, is getting another video game, entitled 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand. To be honest, after thinking about this for a little over a half hour, my brain made a concerted effort to flee my body.
Why, oh why, do we need another game surround the thug life of 50 Cent and friends Lloyd Banks, Tony Yayo and DJ Whoo Kid? It’s supposed to be a co-op experience like Gears of War. But what the hell are you going to do? Run around trying to cap Kanye and Cam’ron? Try not to take that 10th magic bullet that could kill you? I can’t wait to see what kind of antics Fitty and friends will be up to this time.
If your head hasn’t imploded like mine, keep reading for the full press release and some more screenshots… who holds a fucking uzi like that anyway?

Microsoft sent out a media alert to let us know about two games with reduced prices on the Xbox Live Arcade this Wednesday. Both Assault Heroes and Doom will be dropping fro 800 MS Points to 400 MS Points. Good deal if you don’t have them already. Although, I have both and haven’t touched them in a really long time.
Along with that info, Microsoft shed some light on four new titles coming soon to Xbox Live Arcade: Rocky and Bullwinkle, Shotest Shogi, TiQal, Wits & Wagers, and Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3. Hit the jump for all the non-juicy details.

Looks like Atari has no problem being fashionably late to the party, as they’ve announced they’ll be bringing an arsenal of PC games to Steam. Some games like RollerCoaster Tycoon are available now, with bigger titles like Neverwinter Nights coming soon.
“Atari is excited to team up with Steam and deliver great games through a digital platform that our fans have asked for,” said Nizzi Renaud, Vice President of Online Entertainment, Atari, Inc. “We look forward to making an extensive collection of games, across many genres, available to Steam’s extensive, globally-connected community.”
Steam really is the bees knees as far as PC gaming goes. The more companies that jump onboard, the better for everyone in the community.

Nintendo looks to barrage us with quality first party titles in the beginning of 2008. First it was Brawl, now Mario Kart. US gamers will be able to play the happy little racer on April 27th.
Mario Kart Wii will include 16 new courses and 16 classic courses from previous Mario Kart games. For the first time ever, players have the option of racing with either karts or motorbikes. Players can also hit the road as their personalized Mii™ caricatures in addition to the handful of classic Nintendo characters found in the game. True to the series, the game features tons of racing, plenty of power-ups and oodles of objects for players to use to slow down other drivers. And 10 battle arenas will keep players busy between trips around the circuit.
I’ve been a huge Mario Kart fan ever since the Super Nintendo. Personally, I see that and the DS versions as being the best of the series. Hopefully the Wii version will top that. We’ll know in a month.
