Press Release: Wine Tycoon (PC)

Wine

Wine is sunlight, held together by water.” – Galileo Galilei, 1564-1642.

A very old saying that for us wine lovers represent the poetic passion that we feel when pop the cork of out favorite bottle, take in the nose and close our eyes as we put the glass to our lips. And somewhere along the line a wine enthusiast like myself had the idea to turn that passion into a video game. Genius. I myself am very excited about this upcoming PC release. And for those of us who believe that the best wines still come from France you will be glad to know that the game takes place in some of the countries most important wine regions. Slated for an October 2009 release (the same time as France’s harvest), those with interest will not have to wait all that long.

What does the game entail? Take a look.

Halo Wars Becomes Best Selling Console RTS

Halo Wars
Halo Wars was released just under 2 weeks ago on March 3 and it has sold one million copies making it the best selling RTS ever to grace a console. I know it pales in comparison to the Starcrafts of the world and there has not exactly been that may great RTS on consoles, but in 2 weeks? A million units shipped? For a Halo game that does not involve Master Chief? Impressive.  Hit the jump for the official press release.

Street Fighter IV Sells 2 Million Copies

Street Fighter 4 Screen 2

It is not often that a game lives up to its potential. It is even more rare when a game shatters expectations. You can put Street Fighter IV in the latter category. Capcom has released a statement saying that SF IV, the arcade phenom, has sold 2 million console copies. In today’s economic climate, that is nothing short of remarkable. Factor in that the game is a fighter as opposed to the more well versed genre such as FPS, MMO, etc.  Capcom killed it with SF IV. People are already buzzing how they plan to top it. Wrath of the Lich King Smashes Records

World of Warcraft has made another step in it’s conquest to take over Earth.  It was announced today that the Wrath of the Lich King Expansion Pack has expanded the WoW subscription base to 11.5 million globally.  To help people understand how large that number really is, let’s write it out:  Eleven million five hundred-thousand users. Or: 11,500,000.  Simply put, that’s quite an accomplishment, and a lot of revenue.  Well done, Blizzard.

Blizzard has also done a little song and dance to the fact that WotLK sold 2.8 million copies in 24 hours taking the title of the fastest selling PC game ever.  Not stopping there, WotLK continued to sell more than 4 million copies in it’s first month on the shelves, which took the record for most PC game sales in a month from it’s predecessor The Burning Crusade.  Trumping yourselves, kudos to you Blizzard.

It is nice to see some firms giving good news around the holidays.  The press release even goes so far to say that Blizzard is hiring.  Check it out at www.blizzard.com/jobs, there are plenty of jobs available, another bit of uplifting news in time for the holidays.

Ready to Rumble Revolution Knocking Out the Wii in 2009

When I first bought my PS2 at launch, the first game I bought was Ready to Rumble 2. I was addicted to that shit. I can’t tell you how many times I beat the game with every character. Knocking out the roided-up Michael Buffer was a good time. So when this press release hopped across my desk, I got extremely excited. Ready to Rumble Revolution will be hitting the Wii this Spring.

Sure to satisfy newcomers and boxing fans alike, Ready 2 Rumble Revolution features a roster of 18 wildly caricatured cartoony boxers based on celebrities from the worlds of sports, music and movies. Celebrities enter the ring as larger-than-life “Rumble-ized” versions of themselves. Players will step right up and see if they can knock these super-sized egos down a peg or two!

Hell yeah bitches. I am all over this one. I just hope they don’t go over the top with the motion controls and ruin the experience that the game has had in the past.

Yet Another New PSP Model Announced

PSP 3000

We’d seen the FCC submission for the PSP-3000, but Sony made it official today at Leipzig. The new PSP will have a better screen with a wider color gamut and anti-reflective technology as well as a built in microphone. Minor, but cool additions to Sony’s handheld. I’m perfectly happy with my PSP Slim, so I won’t be updating (especially since the Slim came out a year ago).

The upcoming Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters bundle will be the first way to get the new PSP-3000. After that, a new Entertainment bundle will be released that includes a 4GB memory stick. Hells yeah. Check out full details of both packs in the press release after the jump.

  • Collectible Hobbe figure with accessories – From the Qee Collection comes this one-of-a-kind Hobbe figure. Nasty, brutish, and short, he roams the countryside, preying on travelers and spiriting away the children of the unwary.
  • 48-hour Xbox LIVE Gold Trial Card – With Xbox LIVE Gold, players can show off their individual hero by inviting friends into their unique version of Albion or they can visit their friends’ Albion, and earn additional gold, experience and renown to take back into their own.
  • Five printed Fate Cards – These five beautiful cards foretell the Hero’s great destiny to journey across all of Albion, encountering deadly enemies and enigmatic allies. The path leads to a choice that will change the world forever.

I’ll probably skip the LE on this one. Cool game, but not worth it. Get ready for marriage and child bearing in a game.

Guitar Hero III Gets Interscope Track Pack

Guitar Hero 3 Screen

Just when you thought Guitar Hero III wasn’t going to get any more cool DLC, they drop it on you. Coming Thursday, we get three hard hitting tracks.

The pack will include the heavy lyrics of Flyleaf’s “Tina,” the heartfelt track “Carcinogen Crush” from hardcore-punk turned goth band, AFI, as well as a remix of Marilyn Manson’s grinding, fast-paced “Putting Holes In Happiness” by Nick Zinner from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

Hot shit. I’m all over this one. I haven’t played Guitar Hero III in a while, and this is definitely a reason to go back. Now I think it’s time to pick up a new GH3 guitar. My old wired one from Guitar Hero II has seen better days….
