LittleBigPlanet Getting Some Nice Pre-Order Bonuses

LittleBigPlanet Kratos

I’m not a big advocate of pre-ordering games. You can usually walk in to any Best Buy, Walmart, or Target and grab a copy of the game on launch day. My only exceptions are cool limited editions and games with awesome pre-order bonuses. Enter LittleBigPlanet.

In a post on PlayStation.Blog, Mark Valledor a Marketing Manager at Sony, dropped a few details of what you can get for pre-ordering what could be the biggest Game 2.0 event to hit the consoles.

Some perks for dropping some cash down for the game early include exclusive downloads for Nariko and Kratos SackBoy skins, a LittleBigPlanet Creator video guide, a sticker book, and a sack pouch to hold your game. All are pretty damn cool stuff. What about a real life SackBoy? I want one for my desk.

Make sure to check out some pics of the rest of the goods after the jump.

Fable II Preorder Details Released

Fable II Collectors Edition

Fable II is going the route of Spore, giving you a way to get started before the game’s actual release. Microsoft and Lionhead will be releasing the Fable II Pub Games in August which will allow you to build up gold to spend in-game.

The final names of the Xbox LIVE Arcade “Fable II” Pub Games (which will be available as one download) are: “Keystone,” which is a combination of Craps and Roulette, “Spinnerbox,” which is an updated take on slot machines, and “Fortune’s Tower,” which is a press your luck style of game. The download will also include a Shell, which is a tutorial of all three games.

You can get these free to preordering either the standard or collector’s edition of the game. If not, you can drop 800 MS Points to get the Pub Games. Pretty cool preorder bonus.

Metal Gear Saga Vol. 2 Impressions

Metal Gear Saga Vol 2 DVD Cover

Did you get your Metal Gear Solid 4 pre-order in yet? We did. If you drop some cash on the game now, you get a pretty cool Metal Gear Solid Vol. 2 DVD to get you up to speed on the storyline. Oh yeah, you get a Beta code for Metal Gear Online… if you care about that sort of thing. :)

First, the bad news. This DVD is a letterboxed 4:3 type of shenanigans. It’s sort of understandable, since the earlier games didn’t support 16:9 resolutions. But MGS2 and MGS3 supported widescreen on the PS2, so I’m not sure why they didn’t go with widescreen versions of those videos. Even the MGS4 videos are letterboxed. Boo on that.

Wii Fit Priced at $90 at Gamestop

Wii Balance Board

A few astute readers have found that Gamestop has priced Wii Fit. Guess how much losing weight is going to cost you? That’s right, you read the topic and the game with balance board will run you a cool $90. Seems pretty steep considering how the game is targeting the casual market.

A couple calls to local Gamestop stores confirms the price, as well as preorder deposits of $10. I have a feeling that, just like the Wii, if you want this one, a preorder might be necessary.

I’m not sure I’m willing to shell out just under $100 to use the Wii to try and get myself in shape. That’s why I pay for the gym membership.

Metal Gear Solid 4 Limited Edition Priced and Detailed

MGS4 Screen 5

Want to know what $85 will get you for a Metal Gear Solid 4 Limited Edition in North America? A Gamestop employee over at NeoGaf found out and posted the details. Here’s what you’ll get:

  • A Blu-ray containing
  • 2 making of documentaries, and interview with Kojima
  • 4 chapters of the graphic novel
  • Metal Gear Import Soundtrack CD

Also, as a bonus for Gamestop only, those who preorder the Limited Edition will get a nice Metal Gear Solid 4 art book. I think it’s worth the extra money and will be putting my preorder down pretty soon. Don’t forget, people that drop a bit of cash now will get into the Metal Gear Online Beta for the PS3.

EB Games in Canada Offering Full Refund for Haze for PS3 if You Return it in 1 Week

EB Canada Haze Return

Many people are stoked about Haze for PS3 coming out soon. Apparently, EB Games in Canada feel that the game is not all that. If you preorder Haze, and return it with in 1 week with your receipt, you get a total refund. Its store credit but still. Ubisoft must be shitting their pants with rage right now. They are basically giving the game away for a free rental, and if you don’t like it, you can return it no questions asked. Furthermore, they are openly promoting this. There seems to be a good chance that Haze is going to suck big time and EB Canada is hedging their bets.

Metal Gear Online Beta Coming in April

Metal Gear Online Screen

This one kinda snuck into Sony’s information from their Destination PlayStation retail event. Konami will be offering a special pre-order bonus for Metal Gear Solid 4. Details are scarce at the moment, but suffice it to say that people who pre-order MGS4 will be able to participate in the multiplayer beta of Metal Gear Online in late April.

Metal Gear Solid 4 will include a “Starter Pack” on the disc for Metal Gear Online, so this beta will give you a feel of what to expect when the game is released. No word is Konami will be offering other ways to enter the beta. So if you want to participate, get ready to pre-order the game once more details are revealed.

Halo 3 Dated: Finish the Fight September 25

Halo 3 Commerical Screenshot

Mark your calendars and clear your fall schedules. Halo 3 is set to drop on September 25 in North America (one day later in Europe).

Peter Moore today stated in a press release:

Halo 3 is much more than a video game release; it’s the biggest entertainment event of the year

Ok, slow down there Peter. I don’t think I’d go that far. I’m not sure this is even the most anticipated video game release of all time.

Anyway, get your preorders in now, or get ready to camp out for this sucker.

Xbox 360 Elite Preorders Tomorrow at Gamestop

Xbox 360 Elite Preorder ImageIf you don’t mind giving your money to Gamestop, and have a need for the (not so) Elite Xbox 360, you can sign up tomorrow on their website to preorder the console. No word if the console will be offered by itself or with a bundle, but it’s Gamestop, so expect to shell out some cash for accessories you don’t need.

If you are looking to get one of these on Sunday, it might be a good idea to look into this. Word on the streets is that supplies with be very limited for the initial release.

Just a note, if you’re upgrading from a current Xbox 360, there’s no transfer cable included with the Elite, only with the stand-alone 120GB hard drive.
