PlayStation 3 Head Tracking Demo

Remember that head tracking thing done with the Wii-mote? This takes it to another level. Stephen Totilo go to play around with the new technology at GDC.

Instead of strapping a Wii-mote to your head, this makes use the PlayStation Eye camera. Pretty damn cool. I wonder how long until we see this adapted into games on the PS3? It’ll see a ton of PlayStation Eye’s, that’s for damn sure.

Sony Updates User Agreement, Reveals New Features

PS3 Horizontal

Sony updated their User Agreement today, revealing some new features that are coming to the PS3 and PSP. You can read the whole User Agreement here, but we’ll summarize all the new happenings. The User Agreement indicates these changes take effect on October 30th, 2007.

There are many instances in the new User Agreement that refer to uploading materials to the PlayStation Network. Here’s a couple excerpts:

You may not upload, post, stream, or otherwise transmit any content that contains any viruses, worms, spyware, time bombs, or other computer programs that may damage, interfere with, or disrupt PSN.

[...]

You may not take any action, or upload, post, stream, or otherwise transmit any content, language, images or sounds in any forum, communication, public profile, or other publicly viewable areas or in the creation of any Online ID that SCEA, in its sole discretion, finds offensive, hateful, or vulgar.

With the PlayStation Eye coming out soon, this doesn’t seem too surprising. This could also be covering user content being shared over the PlayStation Network, as we know Unreal Tournament 3 will allow mods and sharing a content.

The Eye of Judgment (PS3) Box Art, Bundle Packshot, Game Details

Eye of Judgment Bundle Shot

Sony released the final box art for their new card-based game, The Eye of Judgment. Make note: Judgment has one “e” in this game. The bundle pack is above, and you can see a bigger image the box art after the jump.

I got a chance to play the game a bit at Digital Life and it works very well. The game utilizes the PlayStation Eye to read cards put onto the gaming board. Depending on where and which direction you place the card determines the actions taken. The graphics and video grabbed by the PlayStation Eye are both overlayed on the screen, which surprisingly works very well.

Where I see an issue with the game is online play. The bundle you purchase comes with a starter deck and one booster pack. For those of you who never played a card based table game, this isn’t going to get you very far against real people. Sony and Hasbro will be selling additional decks for the game. While being optional, if you do online with just the starter deck, you’re going to get your taint handed to you. We’re looking to get more information from both companies on how they will address this issue and we’ll get back to you.

New Eye of Judgement (PS3) Screens

Eye of Judgement Screen 1

We just received these new Eye of Judgement screens for the PS3. If you haven’t heard, this is the table-top card game that makes use of the PlayStation Eye to get video of what cards are being played. Penny Arcade has been drooling over it since E3. I think it looks pretty cool, but I’d like to get a better idea of how the gameplay works.

PlayStation Eye Pricing, Release Date Somewhat Revealed

PlayStation Eye Camera Image

Pricing for the upcoming PlayStation Eye camera has been somewhat revealed. The PS3 camera will only be available with the Eye of Judgement game.

Amazon is giving a release date of October 23rd with a $59.99 price tag. Seems like a good deal if you’re down with tabletop card games.

I’m still taking issue with the USB ports on the PS3 to use the camera. To leave it hooked up all the time, you have to plug the camera in via the front USB ports on the PS3 (there are none in the back). I hate seeing wires in my entertainment center, so I’m doubtful I’d use the Eye camera that often.

PlayStation Eye Trailer

Sony unveiled more details about the new PlayStation Eye at Leipzig. The game will come with a few mini games that look actually kinda fun. Maybe Sony will put their camera to better use than Microsoft has for the 360. My Vision camera has been sitting around collecting dust for a while now.

Here’s your HD goodness.
