From the “No Shit?” files, Sony has come out and said that “There is a piracy problem on PSP.” Wow, you just figured that one out?
Custom firmware has been around for a very long time for the PSP allowing you to run homebrew, ISO loaders, and all kinds of crazy stuff. In terms of homebrew, this is pretty cool. But it also allows gamers to download ISO images of PSP games to load from their memory sticks. Bad news for game developers.
We know about it, we know how it’s done. It sometimes fuels the growth of hardware sales, but on balance we are not happy about it,” said [SCEE President David] Reeves, telling attendant developers that Sony will unveil new ways to combat piracy soon.
Not sure how exactly they’ll be clamping down on this. Some of the PSP hackers out there really know their stuff. It’ll be interesting to see how Sony combats this. The PSP has been steadily gaining momentum across the globe the past year, so cutting down on piracy for the huge games they’ve released in a good thing.
MS continues to expand the Xbox Originals library with three “new” games next week. Ninja Gaiden Black, Sid Meier’s Pirates, and Black, will all be available on Feb 11th and should cost the usual 1200 MS points. The NGB game is great because you get the expansion pack already built in and may give you a good warm-up for NG2. I never really got into Pirates! and never knew why! they had to put! exclimation points after the title! Black was a solid FPS, but its short. You really need the 120gb HDD for these games though.
Ok first of all let me say that a game that has pirates and ninjas in it should be freakin aweseome, too bad this one looks lame. Second of all there is no contest between ninjas and pirates, ninjas win hands down everytime!
I have seen a few videos and clips of this game and keep thinking it is some kind of bad joke. The graphics are shoddy, the gameplay looks weak and the comedic value of having pirates versus ninjas quickly runs out after a few seconds.
And there it is. The adult film industry had made the leap to blu-ray. I understand this is not the quantum leap like 8mm to VHS was in Boogie Nights, but now you can take in a nice skin flick on your PS3. Recent reports suggest that the movie Pirates, an adult version of Treasure Island/Pirates of the Caribbean will now be on blu-ray format says Gizmodo. You don’t believe this exists? Here is the Amazon link. I may never leave the house again.
The marketing people behind Pirates vs Ninja Dodgeball are amazing. They took a real life scenario and turned it into a hysterical video to promote the game. Well played my friends. Well played. Definitely can’t wait for this one.
We brought you info on the game a while back, but now we have a solid gameplay trailer for you. Pirates vs Ninjas Dodgeball looks to be one of the most fun downloads of early 2008.
Nintendo sent out a press release today letting us know of a successful mod-chip raid in Hong Kong. The raid netted over 10,000 chips used to circumvent the copy protection schemes in the Wii and DS.
“Piracy affects the entire video game industry, from large companies to independent developers,” says Jodi Daugherty, Nintendo of America’s senior director for anti-piracy. “It can destroy years of hard work by a team of very talented software developers, who strive to create games consumers enjoy playing. Copying the developers’ work and spreading the game files globally is blatant stealing.”
Good for Nintendo. Piracy really hurts game development, and this is step in the right direction for everyone. Nintendo has a proven track record of being very hard on pirates, so expect more of these sting operations.
For decades, mankind has contemplated what would have happened if two historical icons had battled…with balls. Finally, there’s a studio brave enough to tackle this difficult question. Blazing Lizard, Inc today proudly announces its first console downloadable game, Pirates vs. Ninjas™ Dodgeball.
The first game in the Pirates vs. Ninjas™ series allows up to 8 players to choose from 5 unique teams (Pirates, Ninjas, and three more to be unveiled later), and compete against one another in the ultimate sport of champions – Dodgeball. However, this is no ordinary Dodgeball game. Teams aren’t restricted to one side of the court, instead they roam freely around 6 gorgeously detailed arenas. In addition, characters are equipped with combat moves and special abilities to deliver a more action-packed experience than could ever be found on the playground.
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End drops today for all “next-gen” consoles. Here’s some cool gameplay footage showing some various gameplay elements and a bridge duel between Captain Jack and some other pirate hooligans.
The graphics in the game looks very good. There’s a lot that seems similar Tomb Raider with the exploring and wall climbing. I’m pretty sure I’ll be picking this one up… just need to decide what system
