I’m not saying that figuratively, I mean it literally fixes nothing. The previous v1.07 patch in LittleBigPlanet did fix a lot of problems, but it also caused a few in its wake.
The 13mb v1.08 download only introduces new textures for upcoming DLC. The forthcoming Edam patch, as it’s being called by Media Molecule, is still in the testing phase. That patch should address some of the problems facing LittleBigPlanet at the moment.
This begs the question, are many of you out there still playing LittleBigPlanet? I played it almost non-stop upon release, but have since put it on the shelf. I anticipate going back to the game every month to check out the new levels, but I’m not really that into designing my own creations at the moment. What about you?

A few of us have been getting into (or back into) Resistance 2 multiplayer lately. If you haven’t tried it out, definitely hop on because it’s a shitload of fun. But just like any game, there are a few bugs. Insomniac is looking to fix many of those issues with a patch, v1.40, coming on Monday.
There was a nasty little bug where people were getting their ranks reset back to 1, which is being fixed. Not only will you get back everything you lost, but all the XP you gained after the reset will be restored upon downloading the patch. Quite a few other balancing tweaks and fixes are included and you can check out the full list after the jump.
One thing that isn’t being fixed, yet, is being able to store XP and rank for a second local player on your PS3. Right now, whatever gains you get are wiped when you quit the game. Insomniac is working on a fix for this and said the reason this capability wasn’t there from the start was the PS3 lacking this capability. Since this was added in a firmware update, Insomniac is doing their best to get this much requested feature out to you as soon as possible. When they do, Crowley will stop calling, texting, and IM’ing me every day asking when this feature is coming. I can’t wait.

Although I absolutely love PixelJunk Eden, it does have a couple issues. It’s a little tough for novice players and the the multiplayer camera can be wonky. As of tomorrow, though, those issues are gone. Game designer Dylan Cuthbert announced the patch on PlayStation.Blog.
As you move through the gardens, you’ll encounter more and more interesting ideas and concepts. In order to help people having trouble right at the beginning, we’ve changed the large crystals so they replenish a whole half of your oscillator (time) meter. Even if you run out of time, we allow you to continue from the last Spectra you collected. To preserve the pride of those who gained trophies without continues though, the ‘garden complete’ trophy is only available if you don’t use the continue system. You don’t need trophies to move forward into the game and explore new gardens, so dive in and try out some of the crazy stuff we put in the game (such as the infamous Garden 7 with its rotating gravity).
To go along with the patch, an “Encore” expansion patch was officially announced. No word on what will be included, pricing, or a release date, but I’d expect late Spring and a couple more gardens to play around with.

Bethesda has just announced that a brand new Fallout 3 patch is available today for all platforms. The patch has a massive amount of bug and quest fixes along with trophy support for the PS3. Due to the large amount of fixes the list is located after the jump. Seriously, it’s a ridiculously long list.
But that’s not all! Bethesda has also decided to price and date the new Operation Anchorage DLC. The DLC will be priced at 800 Microsoft Points or otherwise known as $10. The release is set for January 27th. This is the first of three expansions that will be available for the Xbox 360 and PC versions of Fallout 3. Sorry PS3 fans.

Starting today, I will actually be playing SOCOM: Confrontation on the PS3. I was a huge fan of the PS2 games, but all the server issues and bugs and missing features from Confrontation really turned me off. I haven’t touched the game in months. Today, that changes.
We’ve told you all about the new stuff in the patch, like Trophies, a Quick Match option, and Party system. Now, it’s all here. I’m excited, but also a bit saddened that it took this many months after release to get Confrontation to the playable form that should have existed from day 1.
Whatever the case, you can catch me online a good deal this week in SOCOM on PS3. I think Steve and Yaris will be playing too, so look for us online.

We have had our first Mark Rein spotting of the new year and it seems to be just in the nick of time. Fans of the popular series, including myself, have been growing tired of the inconsistent online play and all of the exploits that have marred the game since it’s release. It goes without saying that a patch has been a long time coming and Epic needs to work on it’s communication skills.
Gears of War 2 will be receiving the much needed patch sometime in January. The patch will address oodles of issues that have been exploited by gamers along with new achievements tied to the DLC. The list below includes all of the major fixes listed in the forum post but there are more to come. Mark Rein has promised to do a better job of keeping the community updated on future fixes. We will hold you to that Mark.
Just a few of the patch details:
- Fixed invisible shield exploit.
- Fixed melee through walls exploit.
- Fixed infinite Lancer ammo exploit.
- Fixed shield with two-handed weapon exploit.
- Fixed bug where shotgun and boomshot shot into the ground when shooting from the hip.
- Increased penalties for quitting matches early.
- Additional spawn protection from grenades and chainsaw attacks.
- View Submission flag carrier destination using Tac/Com.
- Achievement progress numbers added to War Journal.
- Client side shotgun hit detection improved resulting in more reliable data in high latency games.
- Increased frequency of in-game Achievement tracker notifications.
- New DLC based achievements.
The one fix that I don’t see on the list and probably the one that bothers me the most is the ridiculous amount of grenades in a single match. I personally think the grenade respawn time needs to be throttled back at least a minute or two. I hope it is just one of the items he has left off the list.

SOCOM: Confrontation was this close to be playable but still remains a buggy mess so to speak. While some recent updates had made the game a little better, the one we had all been waiting for is still in the works. No new controller layout and no new quick match fix among other things.
Therefore, barring any unforeseen issues, we are looking to release the SOCOM: Confrontation 1.30 update during the week of January 5th or January 12th. We are pushing to get it approved and deployed ASAP after the holiday break.
We understand that a lot of you were hoping to play the 1.30 update over the break and we really wanted to make that happen. However, our primary goal is to make sure that the 1.30 update lives up to everyone’s expectations and more time was needed to make that happen.
We will let you know as soon as it goes live so you can dust of your copy and get some Navy Seals action going.

The great online community that wasn’t and then was and then wasn’t and now might be has just turned the voices in your head back on. For a few days, Voice Chat was causing massive bugs within PS Home and it had to be shut down while all the kinks got worked out. It seems as if… they fixed… the glitch.
PlayStation Home update 1.05 is scheduled to be released on December 22. With this new update, users will be able to use the voice chat within their personal space and clubhouses to communicate and share with friends online.
By clicking on their PlayStation Home icon on the PlayStation Network column of XMB, users will be able to update PlayStation Home to 1.05. Users who are online with PlayStation Home will need to log-off and click on PlayStation Home icon.
So get back on to hitting on chicks who turn out to be dudes or cops. I’m Chris Haaaaaanson. Have a seat.

LittleBigPlanet players may have been both happy and sad at the same time this week. Happy because new fixes and updates came to the game. Sad because they had to download two separate patches over two days. If you haven’t fired up the game in a while, you’ll only have to get the latest, v1.07. Here’s all the changes:
Patch 1.06 is all about moderation. Your levels won’t just be deleted anymore, which is huge.
- Moderated levels will now receive more better information about the reason regarding this action having happened.
- The notification message will remain in place on screen, removing the chance that affected users miss the message.
- Any moderated level can now be accessed for editing by the creator, whether on or offline.
- Additional information is now displayed on the Good Grief screen advising users on how the grief reporting functions, and warns against making spurious reports
Patch 1.07 brings New Search Modes, the “Wheel of Death” bug is now fixed, an In-game store, Improved peripheral support, plus much much more.
So fire up your copy of LittleBigPlanet and join in the fun.

Having trouble connecting to Home on your PS3? I’ve been getting network error after network error. Sony is dropping a patch today to fix some of the nagging connection issues. According to Home Community Manager TedTheDog:
We’ll be patching Home this Thursday and part of this change will be the first step in tackling the connection issues that you’ll know as C-931 errors.
If you even care, fire up your PS3 later today and grab the update. Personally, I’ll wait until Sony adds more content that makes me want to spend time in Home. Right now it’s just racial slurs and fanboys screaming at each other and trying to bang the girl avatars. The racial slurs should get cut down significantly, at least for a bit, as Sony is shutting down voice chat in the 1.04 update coming today. No word on how long this will be disabled.
