During my usual trip to the local strip mall and toy store, I stumbled across an interesting array of classic vintage games that are now available as simple plug-in options that can go directly into your television. No console needed, just a working television with working AV jacks and an old school spirit. What really caught my eye was the Arcade Gold featuring Pac-Man and Star Wars Classics.

Ever wonder what the ghosts in Pac-Man thought about running around the maze and being chased by Pac-Man? Wonder no more, they were horrified and with good cause, watch as Pac-Man terrorizes the ghosts and hunts them down one by one. Good camera skills, I was dying at the cherry part, damn cherries.

Loot Ninja: Tell us a bit about yourself and how long you have been gaming.
Michael P.: I’m 25, and I’m from the middle of nowhere in western PA. I moved to NYC about 7 months ago, and I’m currently a graphic designer at a web marketing company in Brooklyn. I’m still trying to figure out what I really want to do though. I’ve been gaming for about as long as I can remember. Although my dad has long since stopped gaming, he is the one that got me started with ColecoVision. I can remember playing that obsessively until around 1990 when we got an NES. My favorite games for Coleco are Jumpman Junior, The Heist, Oil’s Well and Squish’em Sam. After SNES, I stopped playing the new ones so much. Every once in awhile though, I get really into a new game. I’m really into drumming in Rock Band right now. I love Mario Kart 64, and my favorite game ever might be Amplitude. I also like the color blue. Read More »
During the next Plus International Design Festival from October 17 to the 21, gamers will get the opportunity to play Pac Man Plus or a real life version of Pac Man. Two gamers will work as a team to navigate the 6 meter by 6 meter maze, one being Pac Man in the maze and the other being his eyes in the sky. There will also be two ghosts hunting Pac Man down, the goal will be to eat the four power pills in the maze. Sounds like a good time after a few beers!

I sat down and ran through the demo of Geon: Emotions for the Xbox Live Arcade this week. The game has a cool premise, but just doesn’t deliver, in my opinion.Geon plays like Pac-Man on crack. You go through all kinds of 3D maps with loops and different levels picking up dots. Yeah, you move around picking up dots. Once you collect enough dots, you hit the X button to flip to your opponent’s side of the map and race to the middle to score a goal. This goes on until one of you gets to 5 goals to win the match. There are various power-ups in each game, with each having a distinct effect. One allows you take away dots from your opponent, others allow you to attach an opponent through the map. Each one has a different effect depending on which Emotion you choose to begin the game. There are pros and cons to each Emotion, so you have to choose which works best for your playing style. I couldn’t figure out a playing style other than move around and get dots, so it just matters which power-ups you like best.I can’t see spending $10 on this game. It doesn’t offer enough depth, even for an arcade game, to keep me coming back. I think I’ll pass.
Microsoft had hinted at some “huge” news coming at their Pac-Man World Championships being held today in New York City. Everyone got all excited. Well, it’s time to calm down.
The giant news is that an updated version of Pac-Man, known as Championship Edition, is now available for Xbox Live Arcade for 800 MS Points ($10). Yeah, exciting, we know. Seems severely overpriced for a Pac-Man game, no matter what it offers.
The “Pac-Man Championship Edition” is the same beloved “Pac-Man” game played in pizza parlors and arcades of the ’80s but is updated with new features that former “Pac-Man” fanatics and new generations of fans alike will love. It includes new mazes that dynamically change shape during gameplay, six new timed game modes, new soundtracks and high-definition (HD) graphics.
