Tecmo Bowl a DS Must Have

If you have a DS and have ever played Tecmo Bowl you owe it to yourself to grab this game. I had lots of doubts when I heard about the remake of this classic football game, but I have to admit that this is looking good. I like the classic look of the game combined with some new features like the create a character, added weather and building your own team functions. The fall can not come fast enough for me to grab this game up and get in some old school running and gunning. The first character I will create is Bo Jackson, Bo knows football and Tecmo Bowl just won’t be the same without him.

What do you guys think, just old school nostalgia on my part or a must buy for you as well?

The Life of an Achievement Whore

You hear of them all the time, but now you can see what it is really like to be a real life achievement whore. Tricking points for cash, only to hear the bling of the achievement and feel dirty afterwards, stop while you still can. The gadget whore was pretty funny as well, wanna see the new features, you know you want to?! LOL

Funniest line:
Who are you? A real whore. O, we’ll leave.

Our condolences to Brett Favre, no good can come of this announcement seeing the great running record of the Madden curse, but at least he is ready for retirement. Let’s see if the cover athlete trend continues with Madden, will we get a report of Brett Favre falling down the stairs and breaking his neck this year?

COD4 patch hits everyone today

cod4-1.jpg
Call of Duty 4 received a much needed patch, although not adding any new features or maps it does take care of other small details that plagued the multiplayer modes. Featured as an auto-update players can now enjoy quick muting other players (no more having to listen to inane chatter), 3rd person perspectives for spectators, but most importantly host migration abilities. Host migration is key, so that way groups can stay together instead of being booted out out the lobby when hosts drop from games. So if you want to get your COD4 on today, just know that an auto-update is in your future.

street-team.JPG

Guess what we’re starting? A podcast! Guess when you’ll get to hear it? Tomorrow!

Our weekly episodes will cover anything from what we’re playing, news and rumors of the week, what we think of news and announcements, to movies that we think suck. Yeah, we’ll end up there :) We recorded our first episode today and it’ll go out tomorrow. I have a bit more production work for editing.

It’s our first episode so don’t be too hard on us. We’re still working out sound issues, getting better microphones, etc. If there’s something you want to hear, definitely let us know. Our goal is to release new episodes on Monday, but this week is special so we’ll have it out tomorrow. Each episode will be roughly 30 minutes… we don’t want to eat up too much of your time :)

Stay tuned for the podcast tomorrow…

New Feature - Comment RSS Feeds

street-team.JPG

We know a few of you like to keep up with what’s going on in the comments, so part of the site maintenance we did today included adding a dedicated RSS feed for the comments section of the site. There are feeds for each individual post as well as an overall comments feed.

If you want a recommendation for an RSS reader, I’d say go with Google Reader. I use it all the time and love it.

Other than that, I spent a bit of time streamlining things around here. Let us know if you see anything out of place or if there’s something you really like (or don’t like for that matter).

Folding@Home PS3 Update

Folding at Home Shutdown Screen

The Folding@Home client on the PS3 got an update yesterday, bringing it to v1.3. The new features in this update include a shutdown timer and background music player. Both are fairly nice.

The shutdown timer is great if you want to let your PS3 fold overnight, but don’t want to leave it on a really long time. Go to Settings, select Automatic Shutdown, and select After Current. Once your folding is done, it’s off to bed for your PS3.

The music player is someone gimped in that you have to select a music channel to play instead of individual artists, tracks or albums. Your choices here are Recommended, Shuffle All, Energetic, Calm, Dramatic, Upbeat, or Electronic. You can change tracks by holding X and hitting left or right on the d-pad. If you want to change channels, hold X and hit up or down on the d-pad. The channels are automatically populated by music you have stored on your PS3 hard drive. How it determines what goes in what channel is some kind of voodoo.

Make sure to join the Loot Ninja Folding@Home team while you’re at it. We’re team #84275.

Burnout Paradise City Demo Impressions

Burnout Paradise
OK I am the first to admit that Burnout was a game that I spent many hours playing and mastering, so I was looking forward to this version as I have stated some time now. I grabbed up the demo on the Xbox 360 and fired it up to get in my fill of Burnout mayhem. The demo gives you a section of Paradise City to roam around in and 1 car to do it in , which is pretty good for a demo.

You roam around a small portion of Paradise City in a beat up muscle car and learn about some of the new features of the game, like now you can pull into a garage to fix your car damage. I don’t like the new concept they moved to where you need to drive from event to event, this is modeled after the Need for Speed games, but I am not a big fan. Burnout was all about sheer speed and crashing, not open world environments. Another gripe I have with he game are the constant cutscenes to show off the crashes, OK they are very cool the first few times but then after that they are just kinda boring and time consuming.
