I wasn’t too much of a fan for Army of Two. At first glance, when EA announced the title, my reactions were what you expect of an *Nsync (I’m pissed I remember exactly how it’s spelled) fan seeing Justin Timberlake. It was co-op heaven. But then, I bought the game and realized that it lacked something I couldn’t put my finger on. It wasn’t what I expected, but overall the game was something that action-packed aficionados should take a look at. The story, however, has seemed to compel more than just gamers this time around.
Universal Studios and EA have officially confirmed that a movie based on the steroid-pumping duo is, in fact, in the works. Bourne Ultimatum co-writer, Scott Z. Burns, is on top of it, along with Scott Stuber (producer of The Kingdom) each doing the producer gig.
Filming will begin in 2009 which means that you won’t be seeing the two bulky brawlers for some time. Luckily, you’ll have flicks like The Watchmen, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Transformers 2 and fucking Harry Patter to keep your penises in your pants for the time being.
Oh, and if you think that’s spicy, Dead Space executive producer, Glenn Shcofield, confirmed that EA is talking to movie studios right now with regards to a Dead Space film. Looks like Hollywood’s going to be busy for the next couple of years. Let’s just hope that none of these films end up in the hand of that German fucktard Uwe Boll because we all know how awesome of a job at directing he does. Although, he does kind of look like the big guy from Army of Two. Hmmm.
In a fairly interesting Jimmy Kimmel Live interview with Mila Kunis, of That 70’s show and Family Guy fame, she goes into pretty decent detail about her video game skills. The interview was supposed to revolve around promoting the Max Payne movie, but instead she talks about how she loves World of Warcraft, her guild and her “kick ass” alliance mage. I have to admit that I didn’t used to like Mila Kunis (I mean who likes Meg really?), but after this interview I see she is a real gamer and she has gained my respect.
I like when she talked about Ventrilo and how someone recognised her voice, so she had to switch to her “twink” character. Impressive usage of terminology that only a real gamer would understand, when she goes into detail you can see Jimmy Kimmel not have a clue and refer to his son’s experience.
One thing I can’t stand is someone who does not play any video games trying to pretend like they do for an interview or because they are trying to relate. If you have no clue just say so and don’t try to fit in. Who knew Meg was a gamer, I know Marky Mark isn’t!
When will the studios learn that not everything can be made into a movie!? Looks like the newest iteration will take our good friends Goku and Trunks to the silver screen, Dragon Ball Z will get a live action movie and from the looks of this early leak from Europe, it looks terrible. Chow Yun Fat without a gun just makes no sense, in fact he should not be allowed to make a movie unless he has two guns in his hands. I also like how the main character is American, they couldn’t find a Japanese lead actor?
What do you think enough with the live action business or long live the DBZ movie?
In my opinion the world does not need a Guitar hero movie, shoot I am of the opinion that the world does not need another Guitar Hero game, but thats a side discussion. Looks like just recently our good friend Brett Ratner was asked about making a movie about GH and he said the following:
I would love to do a Guitar Hero movie, if Activision would ever let me. I’m trying to convince them, but why would you have a movie screw up such a huge franchise? Not that I would make a bad movie. So that would be cool, to do a Guitar Hero movie.
I love Brett’s sincerity in admitting that he can’t make a bad movie, classy move. I also have no mother loving clue what the plot of this epic flop could possibly be, although the South Park episode does come to mind.
What will sure be desktop wallpaper for fanboys everywhere, we finally get an image of what the leading lady will be in the upcoming live action film. Rachel Nichols will be playing Scarlett. Enjoy the slideshow.
