The Sky is Falling – Aaron Greenberg Likes a PS3 Game

Aaron Greenberg

Almost every time we bring up Aaron Greenberg’s name, it’s a story about him spitting verbal diarrhia about how much the PS3 and Wii suck his ass. This time, he praised an exclusive game from an competing console. Wait, what? On Major Nelson’s latest podcast, Greenberg praised MLB 09: The Show.

I’ll give a shout out to MLB 09: The Show (sic). I love that…best baseball game I’ve ever played.

I had to do a double take at that one. Either Aaron Greenberg is getting laid a bit more or he realizes the competition actually has some good games. Whichever the case, we should all be happy that the corporate shit show has taken a break for now.

MLB 09 The Show Gets Patched

MLB 09 The Show Screen

Firing up MLB 09 The Show on your PS3, you’ll be prompted to download the newest v1.07 patch. Weighing in at 19mb, the patch fixes a couple minor issues.

Most importantly, the patched fixed a bug where replays at the end of the game weren’t working properly (as well as some minor Replay Vault issues). We’re also hearing some Franchise and Road to the Show tweaks, but we’re unable to confirm.

SCEA did not respond by press time to confirm the full contents of the patch.

Review: MLB 09 The Show

MLB 09 The Show Screen

For the past few years, Sony’s MLB series has been the best in the business. While not much has changed since the 2008 iteration, MLB 09 The Show lives up to the title of “Most Realistic Baseball Game Ever.” Sony added some nice new features to both Franchise and Road to the Show as well as tweaking the fielding AI to provide 2009’s best baseball title.

New MLB 09 The Show PS3 Trailer

From what I’ve seen and what I’ve played, MLB 09 The Show is looking fantastic on the PS3. I think they’ve succeeded in making the game even better than it was in 2008. 2K has a huge task on their hands to come close. While you’re waiting for Spring Training games to start, check out the newest trailer for the game.

MLB 09 The Show – PSP Screens

MLB 09 The Show PSP Screen

Baseball season is fast approaching. Alongside A-Rod getting hung up by his drawers over steroid usage, we get some new baseball games to play. MLB 09 The Show is looking to take the crown again this year in terms of gameplay, but the graphics department isn’t too shabby either. The new screens Sony released for the PSP version of the game are pretty damn good for the system. I’ve always enjoyed a good game of baseball on the PSP, so I’m looking forward to playing this one in a few weeks.

MLB 09 The Show Getting Nice AI Upgrades

When it comes to baseball games, there’s no question about what’s the best. Sony’s MLB series utterly dominates the competition in graphics, gameplay, sound, and essentially every category you can come up with. So when I heard that Sony was tweaking the AI for 2009, I got excited. Check out this video that shows off all the new changes to how computer controlled characters will perform. I have a strong feeling this will, again, be the best baseball game of the year by a long shot.

MLB 09 The Show Adds “Trash Talk 2.0″

If you’re anything like me, you’re yelling at those piece of shit players on your team of the other team while playing video game baseball. I’m a die hard fan of the sport and love my Mets, so when I’m stuck trying to hit with someone like Louis Castillo, I’m yelling at his ass to get the ball out of the infield.

ESPN got a first look at this year’s iteration of Sony’s MLB series and you can now record your own heckling that will get mixed in with the crowd chants. You’ll be able to use your Rock Band mic, wireless headset, or whatever you’ve got around to record your thoughts. The game will mix it in with the crowd noise so it blends properly and it doesn’t sound like some douche just screaming at the top of his lungs.

There’s plenty of other goodies coming in MLB 09 The Show. I thought last year’s game was the best baseball game ever made and it looks like 09 will trump that. Can’t wait.
