Midway Games Inc. and Epic Games today announced that the PS3 version of Unreal Tournament 3 is scheduled to ship to stores in North America on December 10th. So it is expected to begin arriving into the grubby hands of stores in limited quantities the following day. The highly anticipated first-person shooter has already shipped internationally for the PC, but look for us to check out the PS3 version real soon.
Midway today announced that a new Xbox Live BlackSite: Area 51 demo is available today. The demo highlights two levels from the game’s single-player campaign, taking gamers through the Rachel, NV town square and courthouse, and placing players in the gunner’s seat during a helicopter escort mission through the desert canyons of Nevada. This is an interesting game, but from the previous demo I played I was not very impressed, I am hoping htis demo is more polished and shows off more of the game faetures.
Ok I admit that I am a bit of a sarcastic person, but the announcment today that Unreal Tournament 3 went gold, really does not change my life. It seems like every game when they are coming out goes gold, so why should UT3 be any difference. UT3 will be tons of fun on the PC and expect a lot of players to jump back into this title head first, but don’t expect people to get excited over Midway and EPic announcing it went gold. Call me when video games start going triple uranium!!
Midway just sent over word of it’s latest project venture into the world of art. Midway just announced the release of The Art of Midway: Before Pixels and Polygons, 160 pages of concept art and illustrations from some of it’s top titles. Expect to see some Mortal Kombat art as well as Stranglehold for $24.95. This is a cool idea since some of the concept art from certain titles look phenomenal as well as the marketing artwork.

Midway and Epic today announced the minimum and recommended system requirements for the PC version of Unreal Tournament 3 along with a pair of choice screenshots. UT3 looks like it will need a hefty computer to run this bad boy, the recommended RAM is 1 Gb, whoa! After looking at the screenshots it makes sense why you will need to run a rig of epic proportions.

Stranglehold could not have picked a worse time to be released. Between BioShock and Halo 3 is almost certainly suicide. Nevertheless, this is one of Gamefly’s most rented games. Does it deserve to be considered a top title of 2007?
Presentation and Graphics: Stranglehold has some incredible detail when it comes to the faces of the characters. This is almost and exact replica of Chow Yun Fat. Shooting a man in the face from afar never seemed so real. The level design varies a little. Sometimes there is incredible detail as in the Mega restaurant and other times as in the outdoor sea town, they seem generic. The destructible environments are a blast and enemies cover their face when shrapnel is near. There is not much to the menus; the design is creative but there is not much to do besides play the game. There is some DVD content stuff if you are really into John Woo. The animations are a little bland though. Enemies fall the same way everytime it seems. The enemies are also cookie cutter which takes away some style points. 4 of 5
