Sony and Best Buy Kiosks in the Wild

Best Buy Kiosk
You have probably traveled around and seen the Apple vending machines where you can buy iPods and accessories, but on Loot Ninja’s recent travels to the twin cities, a.k.a. Minnesota, Loot Ninja came across two vending machines it had never seen before. Right in the Minnesota airport there was a kiosk for Best Buy Express and another not too far away for Sony. There was actually a third one that had Elizabeth Arden products as well, but we weren’t as interested in perfume and cosmetics.

The Best Buy vending machine had an assortment of products that any frequent flyer may find a need for like headphones, chargers and video games. Inside there was a few Nintendo DS handhelds as well as Mario Kart and Mario Party for the DS at normal retail prices which was the real shocker, I was certain you would be charged a joy of buying in the airport fee but it was normal MSRP.

Mario Super Sluggers E3 Trailer

This was something that we thought would be showed at the Nintendo E3 press conference, but was overlooked, Mario Super Sluggers. I have to admit that I am not terribly interested in another Mario inspired sports title but if you watch the trailer there are some interesting elements like the teamwork home-run steal and the mini games. The mini games give the game a different angle instead of just an over the top baseball game, almost a Mario Party style game. Even with that being said I doubt this will be more than a rental for me especially if there is no online matches.

Worlds Worst Fanboy Awards

All I can say is that in this group there are no winners really. This video had me rolling at certain points, like where the guy explains how the name PS3 would confuse consumers or the bulligerant guy who says Mario Party isn’t a party since it doesn’t have pinatas! Truly an awe-inspiring video. LOL

Viva Pinata Party Animals Fact Sheet

Viva PinataViva Pinata Party Animals look to move abit away from the original version and move toward the realm of mini-games, 40 to be exact. Players can also play via Xbox Live now and pit their pinatas against each other to gather candy. The change to a mini game style game I think detracts form the original games appeal, this smells of more Mario Party clones.

Smash Bros BrawlAfter hearing of a lot of people bowing out of the lastest edition of E for All (looks at Sony and MS), it looks like Nintendo is looking to capitalize their monopoly at the E for All Expo now. If you happen to be in the in the Los Angeles area from October 18 to the 20th, you might want to stop by the Convention Center to check out the newest installment of Nintendo games, especially Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Mario Galaxy.

In addition, Nintendo will host a daily Super Smash Bros. Brawl tournament. Competitors get a free Wii-themed T-shirt, and a different T-shirt will be available each day of the show.

Although the lineup is subject to change, the complete list of games for Nintendo systems scheduled to appear at E for All include:

Mario Party 8 (Wii) Review

Mario Party 8 Box ArtMarty Party 8 for the Wii follows in a long line of party games developed in the Super Mario universe, however, this is the first time Mario brings his party hat to the “next-gen” on the Wii. From new mini-games to Wii-mote controls, this game had a lot of potential. But does it hold up? Here is a breakdown of some of the facets of Mario Party 8 for the Wii:

Presentation and Graphics: The presentation of Mario Party 8 seriously confused me. Not so much how it was laid out, which was fairly easy to navigate with the Wii-mote, but more-so why Nintendo did the things they did. First off, the main menu system looks very nice in 480p widescreen. Pretty much a standard for this generation. Imagine my disappointment when I jumped into a game, only to find that everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, other than the main menus is not widescreen. You get Xbox Live Arcade style sidebars to frame the picture on a widescreen display. In the HD era, this is very disappointing. Shame on you Nintendo. If you’re going to make one portion of the game support widescreen, you better damn well make sure the rest of the game does too. Once I got past that anger, the game didn’t really look any better than the last couple Mario Party games on the Gamecube. 2 of 5
