Even though the graphics of MAG looked spot on and at first glance having 256 players on at the same time sounds pretty great, how will this work logistically?
MAG was announced for the Sony PS3 and is boasting 256 player online action, broken up into squads of 8 man teams. So you basically have 32 teams battling, with a leader on each squad/team based on skill and experience. Will the leader of each time have some control of the members of his team? If not it will be utter chaos. Having 256 players running and gunning will get hectic and probably dilute the experience by having a large percentage of players that are clueless or off doing their own Rambo thing. Read More »
Bungie let loose two new screens of the upcoming Halo 3 map Cold Storage. The map was debuted at a recent MLG event and looks pretty cool. It’s a remake of Chill Out from Halo: Combat Evolved (yeah, the first one). At this point, I’m not sure I’d buy more Halo 3 maps. I haven’t really played much in a long time with all the other great games that have come out.
Bungie dropped by the recent MLG gaming event to debut the newest Halo 3 map, Cold Storage. It looks pretty damn cool and should make a nice addition to the game’s multiplayer once it finally gets released. Check out some camera footage of the map being played on the big screen.
Are you playing Army of Two? I think most people have moved on to bigger and better things, but some of you still might be co-oping your way to greatness. According to Unscripted 360, EA Montreal will be bringing a pair of campaign maps our way for the cool price of nothing.
Free maps is always a plus and I think will be received well. It might even pull gamers back from GTA4 or Call of Duty for some more gold coated guns. You know you want that bling.
After delayed, then no delayed, then delayed again, then no delays again, we finally have a concrete answer. According to Infinity Ward, the Variety Map Pack for CoD4 was scheduled to go live (no pun intended) on the Xbox 360 at 9:30am ET today. If you’re been anxiously waiting, why not take a half day and go grab these maps.
In an effort to battle Halo 3, Infinity Ward is offering some extra EXP this weekend for those playing on the new maps. Go get on it… you know you want to.
Some of you have already probably received the message on your Xbox Live account from MS that service will be interrupted on April 1, 2008
This is what Gamerscore Blog wrote:
We’re hearing that Xbox LIVE and Xbox.com will be down for routine maintenance for about three hours on Tuesday, April 1, from 2-5 AM PDT (0900-1200 GMT).
Here is what the message from Xbox Live reads on our machines:
Xbox Live will be unavailable for approximately 3 hours on April 1st 2008 to upgrade the service starting 2PM PDT.
Subtle yet different, the quote from Gamerscore Blog leads us to believe that it is just normal site maintenance while the one in our Xbox Live accounts lets us know that it is some kind of upgrade? Perhaps a new “spring update” for us all or just a dirt dirty April fool’s joke to toy with our emotions! Rather interesting since people were so up in arms after the past Live outage, risky to say the least, perhaps it has something to do with the new Halo maps?
As of April 1st, yes April Fool’s Day, you can expect a new Army of Two demo to wet your appetite. If you haven’t tried the game out yet and didn’t want to take my word for it that the game is fun, check out the demo and see for yourself. You will get to play the training stage and the first board, not bad. We can also look forward to some new maps and a new mode as DLC coming soon from our friends at EA.
Hit the jump for the official press release:
People all over the world have already joined the army of two…now is your chance to get in on the action.
On April 1st anyone who has not yet played ARMY OF TWO(tm) can team up to create the deadliest two-man military outfit a government can buy. In this free online demo, two people can play exciting co-op missions exclusively on Xbox LIVE(tm) Marketplace. In the demo, two players complete an intensive co-op training session before they are dropped into Somalia where they must work together to take out the local warlord.
Players engage in two-man tactics and boost their Aggro level to become the ultimate combat force that no enemy can withstand. ARMY OF TWO gameplay focuses on two-man missions, two-man strategies, two-man tactics and a two-man advantage to bring a new and groundbreaking gaming experience to players worldwide, online and offline. It captivates gamers with a politically charged storyline, centering on the impact and ethical issues of Private Military Corporations.
There has been a lot of talk about the new Metal game and what is now being called Metal Gear Online or MGO so I think it is time to shed some light on what exactly it is.
MGO is the multi-player portion of MGS4, which will feature original online maps and game modes and in the future even downloadable content. There will be a free beta scheduled for MGO after April to stress test the servers and see how the game works out over the PSN.
Activision sent out a press alert letting us know about new maps for Call of Duty 4 for the PS3 and Xbox 360 that are currently in development.
“We’ve demonstrated our commitment to delivering the best multiplayer experience in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and that continues with our plans for new downloadable content,” explains Infinity Ward’s Community Manager, Robert Bowling. “We’re excited about the new maps, and the added gameplay variety, and we can’t wait to wrap things up and get online with everyone.”
No word yet on when we can expect these maps to hit, how many maps will be made available, nor the price of the downloadable content. We’ll keep you posted as new details emerge.
