Yeah, it’s getting to be ridiculous and confusing to keep up with the release date for the Variety Map Pack. The truth it they’re aiming for a release later today or early tomorrow morning. Even though their websites and such have changed to show April 10th, Infinity Ward is stating on their blog that the maps have not been delayed.
As of right now we’re pushing certification for an on-time release for April 3rd or 4th. As of right now though, I’m being told that it’s a good chance it will be released worldwide (except for Japan) tomorrow night / early-Friday morning.
So there you have it people. Just keep checking Xbox Live and see if the maps are there. Who really knows at this point.
This news came through yesterday, but I wanted to wait to post it so you didn’t think it was a joke. Unfortunately, the Variety Map Pack has been delayed a week.
Activision dropped a line our way to let us know the maps will be available for the Xbox 360 on April 10th now, instead of tomorrow.
So if you took the day off for the maps tomorrow, you better reschedule. Next Thursday will be your day.
We get some new Halo 3 maps next week and we are very excited for that. With Max’s Halo marathon and this weekend’s SWAT playlist, our appetites have been whetted and Halo 3 has become our multiplayer game of choice, at least for now. Here is one final look at the map pack that will be FREE next Tuesday. No reason not to grab these. Who is up for some Grav Hammer soccer? Tuesday the second pack will be released. Its Halo mania around here sans the Game Fuel. We had to get Matt an insulin pump.
The first Halo 3 map pack, the Heroic Map Pack if you’re keeping score, will be free for everyone starting this coming Tuesday. Everyone has been anxiously awaiting these maps to become free.
With the Legendary Map Pack coming April 15th, Bungie is clearing the way for the new premium DLC to become available. The Heroic Map Pack will become a required item to get into matchmaking shortly after they’re free, so you’ll have to download this if you want to keep playing online.
The Legendary Map Pack might be the first set of maps that I’ll buy in a long time. Sidewinder was one of my favorite maps in the original Halo game, so I’m going to have to play it.
Just got a holla back from our good buddies at Activision that the Call of Duty 4 map pack will cost 800 points and be ready for download on April 3. You will get all 4 new maps which look to really add some more diverse gameplay to an already stellar game.
If you have not bought COD4 yet, just wait a few more weeks. They will be releasing COD4: Game of the Year Edition on April 1. This will include the full game and a FREE token code to download the map pack. The game will be the $59.99 MSRP with the map pack at no cost. Not bad. For full details, click here.
You know what would be cool? If Loot Ninja were to giveaway a Xbox360 AND a PS3 copy of Call of Duty 4? Is that something you would be interested in? Stay tuned.
[EIC Update] Just heard from Activision. The Variety Map Pack will be EXCLUSIVE to the Xbox 360 for the first 21 days of release. Sorry, PS3 owners
Bungie just released a ton of intimate details on their 2nd of 3 new maps for the latest DLC. The map pays homage to Sidewinder, which was from the first Halo game. This map has undergone some great changes and is huge to say the least. Look for it to be a new favorite in Big Team Battles.
The map pack will be available April 15th for 800 MS Points. Not a bad bargain to say the least, but I feel many people may wait the few months until its free. The first pack should be a free download when the new one drops next month.
Game of the Year winner and top multiplayer title, Call of Duty 4 has a map pack slated for an April release and the maps look absolutely awesome. A recent and very thorough article from IGN shows actual gameplay of the 4 new maps. They will be called: Broadcast, Creek, Killhouse, and Chinatown, which is an homage to the uber popular Carentan map from COD2. Each map has their own identity and are designed for either a Deathmatch or the more sensitive Search and Destroy modes.
Word on the streets is that if you download the maps, they will be in the usual rotation. There will also be a special mode that will only rotate the new maps for those who want to play those exclusively. Pricing has not been released, but expect around 12 bucks.
This ain’t your father’s map pack. I have no idea what that cliche means, I just wanted to use it. Anyway, this map pack has a shit ton more going into it than just maps. Major League Gaming has their own specific playlist for their tourneys and we get to have a crack at it with the map pack coming up. If you are thinking about downloading this or are just curious on all things current in Halo 3, click here. Some cool stats and vehicle paint jobs are also discussed for the upcoming update.
