Devil May Cry 4 Looks Slightly Better on 360, Contols Better on PS3

Devil May Cry Image

GameSpy got some hands on time with the demos for Devil May Cry 4 for both the Xbox 360 and PS3 at Leipzig. It’s the same demo from earlier this year, just now playable on the Xbox 360. Their impressions? The Xbox 360 looks ever so slightly better, but the PS3 version has better controls.

The PS3 version looks marginally less refined to us, but anyone looking to start a console-superiority argument wouldn’t have much ammo here. Both games look amazing. It’s the controls, however, where we felt the biggest difference.

Argue however much you will; after five and a half years of hacking, slashing, and shooting demons, we and millions of gamers are very accustomed to the feel of the PlayStation controller, be it Dual Shock 2 or Sixaxis, for the DMC experience. Our gripe with the Xbox 360 demo is that the controls feel too directly ported over to Microsoft’s controller, and it’s not a good ergonomic fit.

I’m sure as the game gets closer to release, both the graphics and controls will be refined for both systems. Hopefully Capcom doesn’t pull an EA and focus on one version only.

New Metal Gear Solid 4 Trailer

We told you about the new bosses, but what do they look like in action? Here’s a video to show what to expect from these killer beasts.

The first half is mostly material we’ve seen before. Be patient, the second half of the video is killer.

Metal Gear Solid 4 New Bosses Revealed

MGS4 Bosses

Hideo Kojima revealed some new information for Metal Gear Solid 4 at Leipzig and showed off the new bosses in the game. All of them are metal, war-hardened beasts. Kojima has what he likes to call a “Beauty and the Beast” theme to the game.

You’ve got Howling Wolf, a dog/wolf kind of thing that howls a lot, Raging Raven, a flying woman with wings and a jet pack that screams “RAGE!”, Screaming Mantis, a puppeteer woman with marionettes hanging from her extra arms, and Laughing Octopus, a woman with metal arms coming out of her head like Doc Oc from Spiderman.

I love the visual style in this game.

PlayStation Eye Trailer

Sony unveiled more details about the new PlayStation Eye at Leipzig. The game will come with a few mini games that look actually kinda fun. Maybe Sony will put their camera to better use than Microsoft has for the 360. My Vision camera has been sitting around collecting dust for a while now.

Here’s your HD goodness.

Rumor Busted: Unreal Tournament 3 Locked at 30FPS on PS3

Unreal Tournament 3 Screen

Yes, the demo at Leipzig ran at 60fps. No, the final game will not. Speaking with Gamers Creed, Mark Rein shared that the final code for the PS3 version of Unreal Tournament 3 will run at 30fps.

in the final game they’re going to lock frame rate at 30fps and you’ll be so happy playing the game, so thrilled with how amazingly it all comes together

Boo on that. UT3 is better the faster it plays, and 60fps would be amazing for the console version of the game. Maybe they’ll change their minds, but somehow I doubt it.
