For whatever ungodly reason, Naughty Dog’s first PS3 entry Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune has failed to live up to expectations on the sales floor. The NPD group has reported that only 117,000 copies were sold during the first two weeks. Leaving Uncharted out of the top ten software sales for the month of November. Personally, I think it’s a travesty. Drunk Pandas gave this a 4.75 of 5. Hell, just about everyone raved about this one. Read More »
You have probably already read some awful reviews for Lair on the PS3 and I don’t want to kick a game while its down, but I just started playing around with Lair and the game really is hard to get into. I would never have thought that the premise of flying dragons could be done poorly but Lair achieved this. Aside from the remote play that allows you to play Lair on your PSP the game has very awkward controls and even more awkward dialogue.
Lair has a Lord of the Rings feel to it mixed with Dragonheart, the whole premise is you are a dragon rider that defends his kingdom against other dragon riders, sounds cool right? Well in theory it is until you grab the six-axis controller and realize that controlling your dragon is not very fun. The six axis controls are used to steer your dragon, which does not really respond well and can get a bit frustrating when you end up flying in circles to get your enemies. Flying battles turn out to be pretty frustrating as targeting enemies in the air is a bit of a pain to use your fire breath, you can lock on and use physical strikes as well but that just isn’t the same. You can also land your dragon and breath fire on the ground, but this also turns out being a bit more fun as you can trample enemies on foot and even eat them. Read More »
Another contest is coming at you from your friends at Loot Ninja. We’re giving away three PS3 games in this contest. Yes, that’s right, three games together! The games are: Heavenly Sword, Lair, and NBA 08. We want to thank Sony for sponsoring this contest by providing the prizes!
To enter, all you have to do is leave a comment in this post stating your current favorite feature of the PS3 and what they’d like to see most out of the PS3 in the future. This is limited to things achievable with a firmware update only, not “more games” or anything hardware related.
The contest ends at 11:59pm EST on Wednesday November 7th. That gives you a full 4 weeks to enter. Only one entry per person per day is allowed, and a winner will be chosen at random after the contest is finished. Read More »
There are a lot of rumors flying around now that all games on the PS3 will support remote play some day, this is especially heightened by the new release of Lair and everyone jumping on their PSP to play. Some Sony spokesperson’s have already been quoted as stating that this is just the tip of the iceberg.
Although the PSP does not have the exact same control setup as the PS3 I think remote play is a great feature and is right up there with game sharing on the PS3. I can’t wait to get my copy of Lair on the PS3 to check this out in depth and look forward to seeing more titles including this. Just think if the new Killzone or MGS had remote play?
Many users have started playing the newly released Lair for the PS3 and many have already found that it can be played on their PSP via remote play. We have all been wondering what the full extent of the PSP and PS3 remote play could be and I think that this is a great first step to show what Sony has in store for it’s users. Lair loses some of it’s functionality on the PSP since it lacks the six axis controls and two shoulder buttons, but who cares you still get Lair on the go. As a new PS3 owner this makes me want to grab this title even more.
This is one title that I have heard some mixed reviews about. Lair is being released September 4th in the US for the PS3. The game features aerial and ground dragon combat using SIXAXIS controls. We’re looking to get our hands on a copy today to give you some impressions.
In a world ravaged by endless conflict and natural disaster, a call for peace turns into a bloodbath of betrayal and deceit in Lair™ for the PLAYSTATION®3 (PS3™) computer entertainment system. Playing as a warrior named Rohn who rides a voracious dragon trained for deadly aerial and ground combat, gamers must defeat the war-hungry Mokai to save the Asylian civilization. Together, Rohn and his dragon will attempt to change the destiny of a world on the brink of extinction by scorching, clawing and smashing through thousands of enemies and their war-trained beasts.
With all the mixed reviews the game has received so far, who knows what we’ll think.
According to EB Games, Lair has been delayed until September 4th from it’s previously scheduled August 12th release date. Gamefly has also changed it’s release date, but they’re showing September 6th (most likely to account for getting enough copies in to rent to customers). Screenshots taken in case they change it back (EB Games above, Gamefly after the jump).
We’ve previously heard the game has gold gold directly from Sony. What could be causing the delay? Either they pulled the game to fix a last minute issue or they ran into some production problems. Either way, this doesn’t bode well for Sony.
The game looks now to be releasing on the same date as Heavenly Sword. If this rumor proves to be true, Lair will certainly get overshadowed.
[UPDATE] Sony just confirmed the new September 4th release date on PlayStation.Blog.
Good news on the PS3 front: Lair has gone gold. Development has completed on the North American version and the game has been sent to manufacturing.
Given all the content and interest here on Lair, I figured you guys would also be interested to hear that the North American version of Lair has completed its development and is now in manufacturing! That means that we are on track for our August 14 release date. It goes without saying that we’re eager to get this out to those of you that have been waiting so patiently (or not!) for it to arrive. Considering the new PS3 price and now Lair, hopefully there’s even more of a reason to scoop up a PS3 if you haven’t already!
If you aren’t down with fire breathing dragons, shame on you. This should be a must have title for the summer.
Anybody who thinks torching people with your dragon fire breath isn’t cool needs to have their head examined.
Lair is in it’s final stages of development and will be out soon for all you lucky PS3 users out there. I’d be willing to bet we’ll see a demo coming at E3.
We're like Spaceballs... we're making Loot Ninja everything. Coming soon we'll have hats, shirts, hoodies, possibly banana hammocks if one Editor has his way...
