Warhawk Patch v1.5 Detailed

Warhawk GGL Sword

Warhawk is getting another free update around August 27th, making the game v1.5. Incognito has put in tons of effort to make the game better and better. Along with Trophies, here’s all you can expect from the new free content:

  • Custom In-Game Music – play music from the XMB music player
  • Training Tutorials – Four sections to bring you up to speed on all aspects of Warhawk (helps the newer players a ton)
  • Retract Clan Invites – Clan leaders can now un-invite people who just can’t hack it from joining their clans
  • New Paint Schemes & Insignias – You’ll be able to even further customize your look
  • GGL Ceremonial Blades – Gamers who participated in the GGL Tournament will get cool new swords to use as their melee weapons
  • “Rookie” Server Color-Coding – After you get done the Tutorials and before you rank up too far, you can join the green colored servers to play against people who won’t kick your ass too fast

That’s a ton of new stuff to keep you occupied. Warhawk is still one of the best online communities out there. If you haven’t joined in on the fun, get the game right away.

Warhawk Trophies Somewhat Detailed

Warhawk Operation Broken Mirror Screen

Dylan Jobe dropped by the official PlayStation forums and talked all about the upcoming Trophy support for Warhawk. No, they aren’t out yet. Soon, young Jedi. Soon.

Trophies are coming in update v1.5. But wait, v1.4 isn’t out yet. Don’t fret, as the two patches were developed in tandem and will be coming “very very very soon”. Yeah, I like the sound of that. There will be 56 achievements in all, with 10 being retroactive to medals and awards in the game. That’s right, if you already have them, you’ll automatically get the Trophies. Then there’s 34 achievements that are all new and have nothing to do with the current in-game medals. I’m betting things like a certain number of headshots, shooting down aircraft, etc. That leaves 12 more achievements. There will be 4 for each booster pack. But there’s only two out now, you so. Hmmm. Guess what’s coming…

Gotta give a lot of respect to Incognito for really staying behind the community of their game. Glad to see this awesome online shooter will be getting some nice updates and Trophies. Stay tuned as we get more information on a release date for both patches and the new booster pack.

Design Your Own Warhawk Insignias and Paint Schemes

Omega Dawn Screen

Not content with sitting on their laurels (what exactly are laurels anyway?), developer extraordinare Incognito is running a contest for you to create your own paint schemes and insignias for Warhawk. The upcoming version 1.3 patch will include 50 user created insignias and 20 user created paint schemes, all chosen from this contest.

User created content is all the rage these days, and Incognito looks to be embracing it whole heartedly. The rules for the contest are pretty simple, but check them out here.

The submission deadline is February 15th at 11:59pm PST, so get designing people.

Warhawk Server Update

Warhawk Logo

The development team at Incognito did some server updates today for the Warhawk servers to alleviate that stat collecting issues some users are seeing. Dylan Jobe, who should have PR job offers flowing in from every company in the industry, posted information on the official PlayStation forums:

We are deploying another server-side update and system restart during a maintenance window of 5am to 7am PDT. on Friday.

This is to further address stats related issues — surprise, surprise! :-)

So the update should be finished now for everyone. Let us know how it worked out for you. I know a couple readers here who had some issues with their stats.

Warhawk Update from Incognito

Warhawk Image

Dylan Jobe, one of the developers at Incognito that worked on Warhawk, gave us some new information on the status of Warhawk on the official PlayStation forums. While analyzing data on the servers, here’s the major issues they came up with and are working hard to solve:

  • Stats Issues — Some players are *still* experiencing stats not tracking. Some players have also experienced your ranks being “reset” or, at least that’s what appears to be happening. In fact, ranks are not being reset but rather, the connection is being lost to the stats DB and thus the game can’t validate what rank you really are. So please don’t be alarmed. You didn’t just lose all your hard fought points and medals. Upon the next clean log-in you should be fine.
  • Join Problems — Sometimes I swear, getting into a big game in the join list is like a mini-game…and a frustrating mini-game at that. We are well aware of this and have people working on it. There are many times that the game shows that it has open slots but will reject your connection…just to continue to show there ARE free slots. A further problem is that players are informed of the game being full only after a long period to attempting to connect…*weak*

I really have to hand it Incognito. If every development team kept an open dialog with the community like this, there would be a lot more harmony in the gaming world. Sure, there are problems. Nothing will ever be perfect. But letting the users know that you’re working on them and regularly giving updates (even if there’s no good news) is really what’s needed in this generation.

Incognito Working on Warhawk Issues

Warhawk Screen

If you’re having some problems with Warhawk, you can rest easy knowing that Incognito is on the case.

We have been pretty quiet recently as we look to determine the root cause of some of the issues that some players are currently experiencing. Some items we have fixes for, some we are still working on — probably not the exact response that you wanted to hear, but its at least a status update.

The three main issues that we are tracking are:

  • Stats and Ranking errors, delayed posting, missing stats.
  • “Connection Failed” or otherwise messed-up join game errors.
  • Network Drops/Disconnects (we have a fix for these and should be deployed in the next service window)

Open communication to the community is key these days, and Incognito seems to get that.

I’m not going to spin it and say “oh….we just had soooo many players…..so successful…blah, blah, blah.”

That’s a bulls&*#$t PR answer. The fact of the matter is that, there were some unforeseen issues that occurred once we went live…plain and simple. From here on out, look for far more frequent updates from us…even if its bad news.

I seriously want to frame that quote and mail it to every developer. Incognito is now my favorite developer just for saying that.
