Hulk game gets actual actor voices

Hulk
Looks like the new Incredible Hulk game will use the ral actor voices from the upcoming movie, which is nice. Impressive to see that Sega is going big budget on their movie games, first Iron Man gets good voice acting and now Hulk. Also note worthy is the fact that these games are scheduled to release at the same time as the movies instead of releasing early and cashing in on hype. I smell decent video games for these two titles.

Here is the official word:

SAN FRANCISCO & LONDON (April 9, 2008) - Marvel Entertainment, Inc., SEGA® of America, Inc and SEGA® Europe Ltd. today announced that all prominent cast members from the upcoming action-thriller from Universal Pictures and Marvel Studios, THE INCREDIBLE HULK, will also lend their voices and likeness to the video game of the same name, slated to release with the film in June 2008. Edward Norton, Liv Tyler, Tim Roth, Tim Blake Nelson and William Hurt will all take part in the game as their respective characters. Based on the film and the popular comic book series created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, THE INCREDIBLE HULK™ is being developed by Edge of Reality and published by SEGA for next-generation consoles and the PC.

Amazon starts HD DVD fire sale

Xbox 360 HD-DVD PlayerThe poor corpse of HD DVD isn’t even cold yet and we are already seeing price drops on hardware and now the movies. Looks like Amazon is having a half off sale on a good amount of their HD DVD selections. Not a bad time to pick up that copy of Transformers and a few others, unfortunately I didn’t see Heroes on sale. Be sure that even more of these types of sales will be springing up shortly so if you miss this one don’t sweat it.

Battlefield: Heroes Coming to PC as a FREE Download

In a strike of unusual generosity, EA has announced that the upcoming Battlefield series installment, Heroes will be issued as a free download. There seems to be no reason for this, but here is a statement from EA themselves:

“It is easy to pick up and play but with robust character customisation and a deep online meta-game, gamers can spend hours building up their characters and conquering the world”, says EA.

The game will most likely be funded by some in game advertising of some sort. The game will also have a more cartoonly feel than the prior games which strived for realism. No word on the specs for the game to be played, but we will keep you informed when the download is made available.

Format wars = Frustrating

FormatsIn a recent article I read there was some discussion in regards to how the format race is tightening up, Blu Ray which had dominated in the beginning of the year is now feeling pressure from HD DVD and it’s exclusivity deal with Paramount, specifically because of Transformers.

To me it is a bit annoying that I can’t get Heroes and Transformers in BluRay, but I don’t think it is going to drive me to buy an HD player just for a few select titles, in fact I just bought the DVD’s instead and played them on my PS3. My intention of getting a PS3 wasn’t really to get the BluRay player, but I considered that a bonus, I actually did not want to take part in this whole format debacle for this same reason, what format will win and what should we invest in as consumers?

I am sure that back in the day someone decided to invest into a whole collection of Beta Max movies and is sitting there kicking themselves years later. I will wait until maaking any serious investments, how about you?

Hit the jump for the portion of the article and a bad quote from an analyst comparing the format wars to a yacht race? go figure!?
