Play Halo, Help Haiti

The situation is Haiti is something that should stir up that charitable part inside of you to want to help. Whether you donate to the Red Cross or some other legitimate charity, I encourage everyone to do what you can. It’s a tragedy that is still unfolding and people need our help. Time are tough and I know cash is tight, so if you want to help but can’t pass along some cash right now, why not play some Halo?

From now through midnight PT tomorrow night, if you play Halo 3 or ODST on Xbox Live with a specific emblem on your armor, Bungie will donate money to the Red Cross relief effort up to $77,000. How to you change your emblem? I’m glad you asked. Hit the jump for detailed instructions. We’ll see you online!

Halo 3 and Fable II Added to Xbox 360 Bundle

Xbox 360 Elite Contents Large Image

Just in case you were on the fence with buying an Xbox 360, Xbox has sweetened the deal,  with the Game of the Year bundle. You can get an Xbox 360 Elite and either a copy of Halo 3  or Fable II. The bundle will run for a cool $399.99.

Beginning in May, fans can enjoy the premium experience of Xbox 360 Elite with two highly-acclaimed Xbox 360 exclusive games, including “Halo 3,” the thrilling conclusion of Master Chief’s epic fight against the Covenant and “Fable II,” the masterful role-playing sequel with limitless choices and consequences. These two Games of the Year award winners combined with an Xbox 360 Elite console make this offer the definitive choice for anyone who wants a complete gaming and entertainment experience. The Xbox 360 Game Of The Year Bundle will be available for a limited time and will come at no additional cost, estimated retail price at $399 (U.S.)

This is actually a pretty good deal considering these are two exceptional games for the price of free. Even though the games are a little dated, Halo 3 remains the top played game on Xbox Live and Fable 2 has a huge replay value. This is a limited time offer, so I guess buy it soon.

Rumor Mill: Xbox 360 Elite Getting Halo 3 and Fable 2 Pack-Ins

Xbox 360 Elite Contents Large Image

Pack in games usually suck donkey balls or are older than hell. There have been some exceptions lately with the Uncharted bundle with the 160gb PS3 and the Resident Evil 5 bundle on the Xbox 360. But Microsoft could be turning up the heat by packing in both Halo 3 and Fable 2 with upcoming Elites.

Ars Technica was tipped off about this possibly upcoming pack, which is still rumor until we get confirmation from Microsoft (who never comments on rumors, we tried).

Could this be enough reason for those still on the fence about picking up a current-gen console to make the jump? It’s certainly possible. I have a feeling Microsoft is waiting to pull the trigger here until we see what Sony is doing in terms on a PS3 price drop.

Bungie: Expect 2 More Years of Halo 3 Support

Halo 3 Logo

There are few games that transcend the industry as Halo 3 has. Love it or hate it, Halo 3 sold a ton of copies and people still play it everyday as religiously as ever.  Now what happens when a game of Halo 3’s stature exceeds its life cycle? Furthermore, when will there be no more Halo 3 updates? Our question has been answered:

Halo 3 took two and a half years to make, and we’re still working on it,” producer Allen Murray said. “We’ll probably be working on it for two more years.”

With Halo 3: ODST coming and most likely several more title updates and at least one more map pack, gamers can expect to be playing fresh Halo 3 content through the end of this decade.

Halo 3 Mythic Map Pack Release Date Revealed?

Halo 3 Mythic Map Pack Sandbox Screen

Halo 3 fans have been waiting for the release of the Mythic Map Pack. Unless you got your hands on the Halo Wars LE, you have been outside a very exclusive club. There has not been any concrete word on when the pack will be made available, but there may be a hint. This is taken from the end of Bungie’s last weekly update:

Looks like we’re ready to wrap up yet another week.  If you’re heading off to GDC, we hope to see you there.  Step on up, shake our hands, but please, no creepy stuff.  There’s only so much antibacterial to go around at a conference of this size.

If we don’t see you there, feel free to hang out around Bungie.net.  We’ll make sure the standard routine stays in check.  You make sure you stay safe and Stay Tuned.

P.S. 04/09/09

See you online April 9, 2009 it looks like.
