There are some games that transcend the industry. The 80’s had Mario. The 90’s had Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter. In the turn of the century, we got Halo. A game does not have to be the best on the market, or even the best in its genre, it just has to change the way people think and act about gaming. To say Halo reshifted the landscape of gaming in the past decade is an understatement. People miss work for Halo. People don’t sleep for Halo. Whenever any new Halo IP comes out it is like Carnivale for gamers. Halo 3: ODST dropped on us last week and made quite a dent in both the sales market as well as the Xbox Live charts. Is ODST an overpriced expansion or a standalone giant we will all be playing until Halo: Reach shows up?

Watch and check out just how much work went into the process and how it was very worth it. I don’t know if they have awards for Trailer of the Year, but if they do, I am nominating it now.
In this weekend’s poll, we figured we’d get your opinions of Halo 3: ODST. Our review is coming Monday as both myself and Steve have been diving deep into every crevice of the game. But what do you all think out there? Is the campaign long enough? Do you like Firefight? How about the new Halo 3 multiplayer maps? Let us know!
How does one gauge success? Critical acclaim? Overall Sales? Fanbase? I believe it falls somewhere in the middle. Based on this premise, one can argue that Halo 3: ODST is a better game than Killzone 2. The question is, do you believe that?
Did anyone really think a game with the word “Halo” in the title wouldn’t move a ton of units? Early reports from VGChartz indicate that 2 million copies of the game have been sold worldwide. Pretty impressive for a title whose worth has been seriously brought into question by much of the gaming press.
Compared to Halo 3, day 1 sales are down around 30%, which isn’t bad, all things considered. Not that many titles can claim they move 2 million units on the first day, including both games in the Gears of War series.

Are you super pumped for Halo 3: ODST? Have you been drinking Game Fuel since you work up this morning? The only cure is a midnight launch! Most GameStop’s are holding midnight events for the launch of ODST and I’ll be attending just to check out the festivities. My local GameStop has advertised a Halo 3 multiplayer tournament while people wait, which should be enjoyable.

Bungie only took a little over a year to complete development on Halo 3 ODST, which was completed back in May. The game has been both feature and bug fix complete for almost 4 months now, being held back for the Holiday season to garner bigger sales. The news was revealed by Brian Jarrard, Community Director at Bungie, on a recent episode of GameTrailers Bonus Round recorded at PAX.
The Halo team at Bungie moved over to Halo: Reach back in May to develop a completely new game engine, meaning Halo: Reach will be that true next generation of Halo that gamers have been wanting. Halo 3 ODST will run on the same engine developed for Halo 3.
Personally, I can’t wait for both games. I’m a big fan of the Halo universe, so I’m excited to see how Bungie will bring these games into the fold, especially Halo: Reach.
Yes, this is the same live action trailer from last week. Why repost it? It is longer with more live action, can be watched in HD and full screen, it is awesome and I’m in charge.
