MS shelled out a shit ton of money, $50 million to be exact, for the exclusive rights to the GTA IV DLC episode “The Lost and the Damned”. To the bane of PS3 users everywhere, only Xbox 360 owners will be able to play it and they want to make sure EVERYONE who owns the game will have that chance. To facilitate that, Xbox Live will be FREE from Feb 17-22 to allow anyone with a gamertag to download the content. Normally, it would only be available to XBL Gold members. Am I full of shit? Hit the jump for the official press release.
You’ve met some of the other gang members, now take a look at the new main character in the upcoming GTA IV The Lost and Damned expansion, Johnny Klebitz. I like him already. Since Rockstar is promising close to 20 hours of gameplay, I think you’ll want to grab this one when it drops later this month.
Want to see what you’ll be getting into next month with The Lost and Damned? Here’s two videos getting you introduced to some of the bikers who will make up your gang. The first video below is about Billy Grey, the current president of The Lost biker gang. He doesn’t seem to take any shit. Good for him. The second video, after the jump, is for Malc. He rides a crotch rocket and fires off uzis. I like him already.
With the upcoming Xbox 360 expansion pack for Grand Theft Auto IV, Rockstar is dishing out an extra 250 Achievement points for you to whore yourself to get.
Get Good Wood – 50 – In the Bike Races, whack off 69 bikers with a bat.
Easy Rider – 100 – Finish The Story
Full Chat – 70 – Your backup are riding at their best!
The Lost Boy – 25 – All hail the leader of The Lost!
One Percenter – 5 – Billy is back on his bike.
Aside from the first one being hilarious, these seem like a good way to entice people to play through the entire DLC storyline. Still no word on how long that story will take, but I’d imagine a solid amount of play time for your $20.
Want to see how much better GTA IV looks on the PC than consoles? GameTrailers put a little video together. The difference is astounding. However, as they note, the PC they used to put this together has utterly disgusting specs. You surely do not have a rig that good. The best processor, the best video card, and maxing out the RAM. Yeah, I’m sure all of you have that kind of spare cash laying around.
Dedicated PC gamers have been waiting for GTA IV, arguably one of the best games ever made to finally come to PC. Well, this is not what they have been waiting for. According to widespread message boards, the game is having huge problems, so much that it is almost unplayable. In a recent interview, the devs are asked every posisble question on what is wrong, what they plan for a fix, and anything else you want to know. A must read for anyone who has the game or plans on buying it.
I think I set the record for the most capital letters in a row. Anyhow, the DLC for the Xbox 360 version of GTA IV, The Lost and the Damned, will cost $20 bucks. It is a parallel story line that will not involve Niko directly, but is likely to have some crossover. It follows the leader of the biker gang, The Lost and will intertwine somehow in the main story arc. This is the first of what should be two episodes, making this a very good and very expensive game. This should be coming our way February 18th, 2009.
You heard that it’s coming, but now you can see a bit of what you’ll get to play. You’ll be playing as the new main character, Johnny Klebitz, a member of the Liberty City biker gang The Lost. I’m sure you remember fighting a couple of their members during the GTA IV story and hearing about their hijinks on the radio. Now, it’s your turn to step in. The story in The Lost and Damned will run parallel to Niko’s story, so there very well could be some interaction with the characters from that story arc. Who knows yet, Rockstar is being pretty tight-lipped.
Check out some more pretty screens after the jump.
Say goodbye to 2008 because that GTA IV expansion isn’t coming to an Xbox 360 near you until February 17th, 2009. Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned will be dropping as the first of two expansion packs.
Developed by series creator Rockstar North and set in Liberty City, The Lost and Damned features a new main character and plot that intersects with the storyline of Grand Theft Auto IV; new missions that offer an entirely fresh way to explore Liberty City with new multiplayer modes, weapons and vehicles; and a diverse soundtrack with additional music – all with the incredible production values that are the trademarks of Grand Theft Auto.
A whole new storyline and main character… I like. I’m pretty sure this will be on the must buy list when it drops. Very much looking forward to seeing what direction Rockstar takes with this.
Oh noes! Run to the hills (not you, Iron Maiden). Zombies are taking over Liberty City. The juicy brain-filled details were sent out in an email sent out to registered members of the Rockstar Social Club:
There is a virus sweeping through Grand Theft Auto IV turning many unsuspecting players into Zombies. If you’ve seen the special Zombie-with-yellow-briefs player skin running around during Grand Theft Auto IV multiplayer, then you may already know that the virus can be contracted in any and all multiplayer modes and is spread when an unsuspecting player kills someone who has the infection (BE ADVISED: The infected DON’T necessarily have to be wearing the Zombie skin, some show NO SYMPTOMS!). The signes of infection are:
- Access to the zombie skin
- having the Achievement “Let Sleeping Rockstars Lie”.
If you’re anything like me (and apparently Yaris), you haven’t touched GTA4 in a really long time. Is this enough to get you back into the game? Personally, I say no. With so much other great stuff out there, I doubt getting infected with a zombie virus is good enough.
