Everyone is well aware now that the GTAIV DLC, Episodes from Liberty City, will be coming to the PS3 after all. Is anyone truly surprised? The first reaction from myself and other gamers I spoke to was, “Did MS really foot the bill for Rockstar to make the DLC”. On the surface, it would appear that they paid a ton of money for exclusive content that is no longer exclusive. If you look at the numbers, it was actually a shrewd business move.
When Microsoft paid close to 50 million bucks to secure the rights to the episodic content for GTA IV, many thought it was a cheap way to corner the market for one of the greatest games of this or any generation. Many of those naysayers were PS3 owners as they were left out of the DLC party. I grew up on GTA on the PS2 and its controller for this series, however, having the option to get these episodes on the 360 made my decision an easy one. The Lost and the Damned DLC was terrific, but how does Gay Tony fare? Let’s just say that this rainbow is as bright as ever.
Ok, maybe they don’t really want your soul, but they want you to play with them in Liberty City. Rockstar dropped off another trailer for The Ballad of Gay Tony featuring two new characters, Armando and Henrique. As always, Rockstar can make an interesting character, and these are no exception. Some nice biker gang work-ins from The Lost and Damned too.
Who knew that there were guns in Liberty City? I’ve spent countless hours roaming the streets and have yet to see a gun or hear a fire fight. Maybe I’m hanging out in the more upscale areas.
Rockstar today unleashed the newest trailer for The Ballad of Gay Tony, the upcoming second expansion for Grand Theft Auto IV. Having never finished the game or played the first expansion, I highly doubt I’ll be picking this one up (either the disc based Episodes from Liberty City or the DLC for Gay Tony). While it does look damn cool, I just don’t see myself having the time to set aside to get back to Liberty City.
Yes, you read that correctly. We were promised 2 episodes from Rockstar for GTA IV and the second episode has just been named. The story revolves around Luis Lopez, who is the assistant to Tony “Gay Tony” Prince, who is the owner of a hotly contested nightclub. Where will this journey take us? We will need Lemmiwinks to light the way.
Also, the 2 episodes will be available for standalone purchase for $39.99 just in case you do not own GTA IV.
Remember, the only thing better than a man in uniform, is men in uniform.
As if you didn’t expect this, GTA IV: The Lost and Damned set a new record for downloadable content on Xbox Live. The expansion pack “eclipsed first-day revenue” for every other piece of DLC out there.
Just how many copies did it sell or how much did it make? Microsoft and Rockstar aren’t saying. Is it worth their $50 million investment? Only time will tell.
How many of you out there actually picked this one up?
Gamers were faced with a dilemma when GTA IV hit the shelves last June and it was not the dilemma that we are used to. The quandary raised was not whether to buy the game, but what system to buy it for. We all grew up on playing GTA on the PS2 because Xbox did not get the games until months if not years later. Now, the once Sony timed exclusive was going multi-platform from the start. Furthermore, throw in the fact that Microsoft bought the rights to any and all DLC for the blockbuster. Was that $50 million gamble worth it? Is The Lost and Damned worth the 20 bucks? Absolutely.
When you woke up this morning, did you think to yourself, “I could really go for some pixelated man junk right now?” Well, in case you did, here is the cinematic of the Full Monty mission which is the very one that the now infamous video dong shot is revealed. The clip is over 4 minutes, so in case you want to fast forward right to the wang, it is at the end. Enjoy. Pervs.
The much anticipated DLC for GTA IV went live today at 3 AM EST for download. I am waiting to go home and play it, but “The Man” said I cannot have an Xbox 360 in my lab. Bullshit. Just in case you wanted to see the opening cinematic and are stuck at work, here you go. Expect a full review of the single player DLC this Friday.
