Want to know how ripping a game to your hard drive will effect load times after the Next Xbox Experience update drops later this year? Check out this comparison video showing GTA4 both from the DVD and from the hard drive. A good 10 seconds or more quicker is a nice bonus if you have the hard drive space to use. Ch-check it out.
According to a forum post, the Trophy list for the PS3 version of Grand Theft Auto IV has been leaked. The Trophies match the Xbox 360 Achievements, so this isn’t very far fetched.
Are Trophies important to you? Will this bring you back to GTA4? I’ve moved on and doubt this will give me any reason to come back. It is nice to see developers adding Trophy support to older, popular games, though.
Your multiplayer issues for GTA IV may be over. Rockstar has released a patch that will fix many of the problems that has been plaguing some users. Here is what the patch will take care of:
1. Fixed an issue where players were unable to enter or exit vehicles in GTA Race.
2. Fixed an issue where scripted vehicles were causing games to unexpectedly crash.
3. Improved reliability and frequency of PS3™ online leaderboard updates.
4. Fixed a rare hang some players encountered when moving from a Race or GTA Race lobby into gameplay.
5. Fixed a hang that would occur when players were switching teams during the countdown in the lobby.
6. Fixed an issue where players were able to get ridiculously high scores from Cops ‘n Crooks matches.
7. Changed GTA Race and Race so that the last player remaining always receives a reward of $250.
8. Fixed an issue where spectating players would prevent the game from finishing.
9. Fixed an issue where players were unable to spectate in Round 2 of Cops ‘n Crooks games.
10. Changed countdown timer in lobby so that it no longer resets when new players join a game.
11. Changed the kick option so that kicked players are no longer brought back to single player.
Rockstar is one of the best at updating their software in a timely fashion. The jumped real fast when Bully had its problems and they have really made sure that GTA IV stays a multiplayer juggernaut for months to come.
Remember the creepy ass Mario or the creepy ass Bowser. Here is the not so creepy ass, Nikp Bellic. This was based off a real person, so its not as disturbing as the first two. Still, this is great work indeed. Here is their homepage which has some great art on it.
Don’t rush to finish your copy of GTA IV just yet if you have the Xbox 360 version. Take Two reports that the content will not be available until at least November 2008. From their press release:
The Company is providing guidance for the third fiscal quarter ending July 31, 2008 and fourth fiscal quarter ending October 31, 2008 and is raising its guidance for the fiscal year ending October 31, 2008 as detailed below. Fiscal 2008 guidance reflects the release of the first installment of episodic content for Grand Theft Auto IV for Xbox 360 in the first quarter of fiscal 2009 instead of the fourth quarter of fiscal 2008 in order to provide a better balance in Take-Two’s release schedule.
Can’t say I’m surprised. It seems that they want to finish Midnight Club: LA before they return to GTA IV.
Over the past five to six months, gamers looking to buy a PS3 haven’t had a choice of which SKU to pick up, as the 80GB MotorStorm bundle has been out of stock at almost every retailer here in the US. Sony has only now officially discontinued that bundle. In the meantime, new PS3 gamers have been forced to buy the 40GB SKU or wait patiently until early June for the release of the Metal Gear Solid 4 bundle.
I know quite a few people who have been waiting since early February to buy a PS3, simply because they care about backwards compatibility with PS2 titles. Gamers with large PS2 games libraries they still play aren’t too keen to having multiple consoles hooked up when one could do the job. With the 40GB console lacking any type of PS2 capabilities, these potential customers have had two choices: leave the PS2 hooked up or wait a few months. Most that I know have been waiting.
If you are a frequent visitor of Rockstar’s Social Club, then you will remember that everytime you tried to click through to the multiplayer section, you were told to come back later. Well, later has arrived. Multiplayer stats are now trackable at the site and you can view all your multi glory anytime you want.
Note: You have to link your PSN or XBL account to your Rockstar account. After you login/register, go to edit profile and follow the steps to link to your appropriate account. Otherwise, you can’t do anything inside the club.
An avid GTA IV fan is selling their BMW on the internet. You may ask why this is significant? Well, he copied Brucie’s dating profile and added other character defining details into the car’s description. He did so the same reason dog’s lick their balls; because they can. Here is the listing. Chances are this kid is a giant, giant douche.

Sony released a minor firmware update last night bringing the PS3 to v2.35. Just what does this update do?
This is a relatively minor update to improve stability of some PS3 titles.
Ok, got it. So don’t go crying that there’s no in-game XMB. This also, apparently, is not directly related to the freezing with GTA 4. According to a Sony PR rep:
I just want to clarify that this upcoming firmware update isn’t related to GTA IV. For those of you who may still have an issue playing the game on your PS3, we have identified a solution that should resolve the issue. You can contact SCEA Consumer Services for support — their contact info and hours of service, as well as more information on this issue, are available in our Knowledge Center (http://playstation.custhelp.com/).
Interesting timing for this firmware release and it having nothing to do with GTA 4. And if they have a solution, why not post that solution instead of making people call into the support line? Just my 2 cents…
