You can now expand your GRAW 2 experience by a shit ton with the new downloadable content. You will get 7 reimagined maps, 2 brand new ones, and 8 new achievements which total 125 gamerscore. 5 of these maps are also filled with the continuation of the story from the first collection and will add to the Co-op campaign aspect we all love to play. No price is listed yet, but will most likely cost ten to fifteen bucks due to the amount of usuable content. Hopefully on the ten side for the fact the game is a year old. Ubisoft yesterday released a large add-on pack for Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 for the Xbox 360. For 800 Microsoft Points, you get 5 new Co-op missions, 9 multiplayer maps (7 inspired from classic Ghost Recon maps), and 9 new Achievements for an extra 125 points.
The pack weighs in 930.32MB and is available everywhere except Japan. No word on a PS3 version yet.
Is anyone still playing GRAW2? I wonder how many copies of this pack they’ll actually sell.
GRAW 2 (PS3) versus Rainbow Six (Xbox 360), which game provides more hours of enjoyment? The fact that I am debating this means I spend too much of my own time playing tactical shooters than anything else, so theses opinions might only matter in my head. After writing the mini review on GRAW 2, I felt compelled every word to mention how I felt it matched up against Rainbow 6, which in my opinion is one of the best tactical shooters for campaign and multiplayer. The options it gives for customizing a shotgun with a rifle scope or any other weapon with a players prefered scope is a top notch feature. I think on 360 the one issue I had is the amount of time needed on multiplayer to unlock the uniform options and upgrades for your personal character. While I haven’t dove into GRAW 2 multiplayer yet, I still think the Tom Clancy team had the right game plan set with Rainbow Six.One issue which I think is much better on GRAW 2 is how players can actually sneak and slide into areas, this is extremely lacking on Rainbow Six, something that just never made sense for a game built more on inside environments rather than outside areas as in GRAW 2. Secondly, GRAW 2 provides the UAV which helps identify enemies, yet Rainbow Six only gives you a snake cam, which in certain scenarios is amazing to use, but it doesn’t help much if you can’t sneak up on the enemy.Whether or not this games are supposed to be different in certain gameplay areas, I still believe if each of these games used the same format, yet made the story different it would broaden the equality of the games. I mean, you really can’t use an Apache helicopter or Abrams tank effectively in Rainbow Six. Well you could, it just wouldn’t make the game much fun blowing up the building you are in. Is it too much to ask to combine Splinter Cell, Rainbow Six and GRAW into one game? LOL.
Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 (a.k.a. GRAW 2) is the second in the series of Advanced Warfighter titles from Tom Clancy, this for the PS3 system. The battle yet again takes place in Mexico as Captain Scott Mitchell handles the task of battling insurgents and attempting to stop complete mayhem. Here is a breakdown of some of the facets of GRAW 2 for the PS3:
Presentation and Graphics: Like the previous titles, GRAW 2 continues with its trend of providing exceptional picture quality for all ranges and characters in the game. The HD 1080p 50″ TVs give an obvious edge over smaller ones, but you still won’t miss out on the action here. 4.8 of 5
With GRAW 2 coming out on the PS3 shortly many are wondering how SONY would incorporate their unique control scheme, well wonder no more. Here is a video showing you how the six axis controls will be used in the game, looks like it will take some getting used to, but I like the direction they took with this.
Why?! Why must people that play online shooters or online in general be jerks? Why can’t people just play the %ucking game and not try to give everyone a headache? My frustration stems from GRAW 2 on the Xbox 360 and trying to play over Xbox Live, but it got me thinking about this particular item.
I was playing through GRAW 2 single player and decided to hop online and try some of the multiplayer gametypes, bad idea! I proceeded to try and just get a quick game online using the quick match funtion. I quickly got booted. OK, so I think this is nothing and try another one after running a custom search. 15 games later of trying to get into a game and not get booted, I finally go back to one of the original rooms and try to ask why i keep getting booted for no reason? Answer: Becasue my rank was 1, wtf?? So I ask the kids on the other side (that were level 9) if they born level 9 perchance? How the %uck are people supposed to level up or learn how to play if higher players won’t play with them for fear of losing levels?
Correct me if I am wrong, but if you are so good and are such a high level, what would be your fear of playing with some low level players anyway? Also I wasn’t aware that your GRAW level was correlated with some life or death statistic?! I proceeded to go off and yell at the kids in the room and vent my frustrations, but it just brought me to a bad place, why must online games give me heart burn?
If you haven’t had a chance to check out the latest Xbox 360 demos on Xbox Marketplace, shame on you, we here at Loot Ninja highly reccomend you do. With the new ability to download while playing games and leave your system on overnight while downloading there shoudl be no excuse, unless you filled your HDD with music. There are some quality demos available like:
* Tenchu Z (Some stealth ninja action for ya)
* Forza Motorsport 2 (A bit of racing to get your engine going)
* Shadowrun (Elves and dwarves killing in the name of…)
* Overlord (Just added today, get your evil villain on)
* GRAW 2 (If you liked GRAW one, take a look)
* Command & Conquer 3 (RTS + bombs = Nice)
* Winning Eleven Pro Evolution Soccer 2007 (GOOOOOOOOOAL)
That is a decent lineup for demos this month, many of which just came out this week, so if you were on the fence about grabbing a title, take it out for a spin and feel it up first. Each demo is around 800 Mb to 1 Gb in size and retails for 0 rubles, my favorite sum of cash.
The people at Tom Clancy have it all figured out. Every game they put out instantly becomes a must have and I thank them for that. But the ranked matches in GRAW 2 have become beyond bearable. Here are some of the issues you are guaranteed to face:
1.Connection. I like the fact people have to finish games in order to get points and I like even more than you need to win to rank up. Yet for some reason, and in GRAW 1 this happened more than it should, you are dropped from a match. No reason is given at all. The host probably didn’t drop you because he is playing and it would not make sense to drop people from a ranked match anyway. Yet, you are in a match for 15 minutes, racking up huge kills and then… dropped. This happens to many, many people. I checked my DL and UL speed and they are more than adequate. Everyone says you can somehow tweak your settings but that shouldn’t be necessary. I already bought the game which should include adequate maintenace and service.
2. Booting. Nothing says a big F-U like having someone kick you out of your room because he is a 5 and you are a 3. Even better when the kid is 13 years old. If I had all day and all night to play video games I would. Hell, I wish I did. But for most of us this is not possible. I spent an hour last night trying to get into games. I don’t suck at GRAW, I’m actually really good. I just don’t have the time to spend countless hours raising an arbitrary rank number just so I can be in a match. RB6 had it perfect. If you were an Elite amongst Privates and you won, everyone got points. You wanted people in the room to increase scoring. Now, unless you have Rambo status, good luck finding a room.
3. In Game chatter. I am the last person to complain about people talking trash in a game. On the other hand, if you just want to talk and talk about inane BS, thats great. Mute the mic. I cannot wait until the Halo 3 “shut up” button comes out. Like I need to hear a 10 yr old british kid telling me about the weather in Liverpool. Or even better is the kid who talks to his friends in the background while the game goes on. Better yet is the kid with the “420″ in his gamertag because he smokes so much weed. Yeah, you just toke up at 7 pm in your house while your mom makes Stove Top. Poser. Yet best of all are the kids who were “really in the army and know what its like”. Let me tell you something. I come from a military family. People who had the privilege and responsiblity of serving their country don’t brag about how many people they killed or the stuff they saw. They won’t open up to family or friends, yet they will tell 9 complete strangers about how bad ass it was to shoot 30 people from a helicopter. I am not into stereotyping, but a kid with a gamertag like Azerothruler or dungeonmaster does not strike me with the physical ability to be a recon marine. We all play video games because we want to escape or be someone else. That’s fine. Just don’t be that guy. It disrespects us all.
Let’s get right to it. GRAW 2 is a fantastic game. If you owned the first one and thoroughly enjoyed it, you need to pick this one up. The campaign and multiplayer are both much improved. There are almost twice as many guns and even an automatic shotgun and grenade launcher. The auto-rifleman class is also improved with the guns actually useful in multiplayer. There are also twice as many maps as the first game. I counted a total of 20 maps as opposed to the 8 last year. Also, 10 of the maps can be relit, albeit at dawn or nighttime or twilight. The lighting does not drastically change the map, but increases the replay value. This is significant because last time, it cost 12 bucks for new maps. The co-op multiplayer is also improved. There a total of 6 co-op campaign maps which take about 40 min to complete if done without respawns and on a competitive level. I have not tried the co-op with more than one person, but I’m always down for game.
Now for the annoying parts. The single campaign is not very challenging on the default level. The AI of the team is improved but they are not exactly the most accurate bunch. These guys couldn’t hit sand if they fell out of a fucking beach chair. You tell them to take care of some enemies but unless a clear shot is there, no one is hitting anyone. In Rainbow 6, your teammates were an asset, here they sort of go through the motions. But the biggest gripe are the online connection problems. You could have the best internet on the planet and get removed from a 30 min match at anytime for no reason. Talk about frustrating; the only way to rank up is to a) finish the match and b) win the match. It really sucks to be kicking ass in a 16 player match and receive no points because the connection was lost to no fault of your own. You shouldn’t feel apprehensive to playing online when that is supposedly the selling point of the game. There really seems to be no answer to this and after searching many posts, the sentiment is shared. Usually Ubisoft is good with fixing these sorts of things, so I am not too worried. Look for the Loot-ninja clan online and maybe just maybe, we’ll take your jewels.
