Champions Online Goes Gold

Champions Online Screen

Superhero MMO’s will be going head to head soon, with Champions Online and DC Universe Online set to take the stage. The first to hit the playing field will be Champions Online, which has just gone gold and it set for a September release.

If you’re itching to get your hands on the game before then, head over FilePlanet where you can join the open beta and start power leveling your hero. Or if you’re a mean shit, you can go make a nemesis with the game’s insanely powerful character customization tools.

Personally, I’m holding off for DC Universe Online. I’d rather have some superheros and villians in there that I recognize. That, and I want to try out an MMO on a console when it ships for PS3. What about you? Will you be playing either game?

Killzone 2 Goes Gold

Guerrilla Games got cranking over there in the Netherlands and got Killzone 2 done a little early. The game has officially gone gold and will be on store shelves February 27th.

Since that’s a little over a month away, just sit back and relax and wait for one of the biggest titles of the year to hit your PS3. You could always preorder it and get the demo.

Mirror’s Edge is Golden

Too Human Gone Gold

Too Human

Dennis Dyack’s oft delayed, oft controversial hack and slash action RPG, Too Human, is finally done. As of yesterday, the game has gone gold. It’ll be on retail shelves August 19th.

Microsoft also announced that the demo has been downloaded over 900,000 times. I played the demo, not exactly sure how I feel about it. I think I need to see more in the full game before I make a final decision. We’ll see later this month. Stay tuned for our review when the game ships.

Madden 09 Goes Gold

Madden 09 Screen

Way before it’s release in August, Madden 09 has already gone gold. EA must be pretty confident in the code. I still bet we see a patch launch day.

Madden NFL 09 introduces 85 new features and enhancements, including the ability to adapt gameplay to the player’s skill level.  Whether you are a veteran Madden NFL player or a newcomer to the game, everyone can have an enjoyable and competitive gaming experience.  Madden NFL 09 will also feature a network-inspired broadcast presentation highlighted by the commentary team of Cris Collinsworth and Tom Hammond.  The game also features online leagues, allowing players to take their rivalries online and compete in leagues with fans from around the country.

This is definitely the biggest update to Madden since they came to this generation. Could be good.

Grand Theft Auto IV Gone Gold

GTA4 Screen 2

The most anticipated game of 2008 has gone gold and is on it’s way to a retail store near you. There will be no more delays as Grand Theft Auto IV will be out on April 29th.

Most Gamestop stores are holding midnight launches for the game. I’m sure a few Best Buy stores might do the same. Check your local locations to see if you can pick up the game and play all night long like Lionel Richie.

NCAA March Madness 08 Goes Gold

NCAA March Madness 08 Screenshot

EA sent out a press release letting us know that NCAA March Madness 08 has gone gold for the Xbox 360, PS2 and PS3. The game will be available at retail December 11th.

NCAA March Madness 08 creates new ways to play by challenging you to master the strategy and skills required to dominate down low with a new feature called Dynamic Post Control. For the first time, you have complete control over dozens of new offensive post moves, including finesse ones like an up-and-under, drop step, hook spin, jump hook, and pump fake, and the ability to combine moves together. Animations can be interrupted at any time to transition into a new move, enabling you to read and respond to the defense, just like real life. Take command of the post on defense with strategic positioning to dominate down low — guard your opponent man-to-man, front him to deny the entry pass or read the offense and go for the steal!

I’ve personally always been a big fan of college basketball, so I’m looking forward to this game’s release.

Haze Goes Gold

Haze Screenshot

Ubisoft previously announced Haze is only coming to the PS3, and now they’ve announced it’s gone gold.

GamePower in Australia is reporting that Ubisoft has been telling everyone that Haze has been released to manufacturing. The game has a scheduled release date of November 19th in the US. Seems a little late given the fact the game is already gone gold?

Maybe this will give Ubisoft time to get a demo together before release for the PlayStation Store…
