God of War + Sex = Mini-game?

No man can stop him, no God can contain him and apparently one woman cannot satisfy him. Kratos needs a little 3-way to earn some health. This is a shot from God of War: Chains of Olympus coming to PSP this March.

New God of War: Chains of Olympus Trailer

God of War for the PSP could easily be the most anticipated PSP title ever. And from what we’ve seen and played, it’s the best looking Sony portable game ever as well. Check out the new trailer, watch Kratos destroy things, and countdown the days until you can play this in March.

Hands-On Preview: God of War: Chains of Olympus (PSP)

God of War PSP
Don’t mess with Kratos. Its a simple rule that everyone seems to forget, which fortunately for us means another installment in the God of War franchise with the Chains of Olympus. This is the first game of the series set on the PSP and actually takes place before the first God of War game while Kratos is still in service to the gods.

The level we played was a bit further on in the game than the demo released a few weeks ago. In it Kratos is facing some soldiers along with a mini-boss which looked like a giant minotaur. Just like in the previous titles, the regular mobs can be dealt with quickly with a few hits from your blades, and if you choose you can grapple them and do a finishing move that varies depending on the mob. Also you get an all new set of magical attacks to use on your enemies. As for the mini-bosses, after you do enough damage to the minotaur, you can perform the special finishing move on them which requires you to hit the buttons in the order they come up on the screen. In this case you wind up taking the sword away from the minotaur and impaling him through the head with it, and lets be honest…you’d be disappointed if Kratos didn’t right?

PSP – Overpowered?

psp-silver.jpg

It appears that Sony has now allowed developers to increase processing speed for the PSP. The PSP has been running at 222mhz. Now with the new processing agenda, the PSP can now be run at 333mhz. Now its true that there is a much greater potential graphically. But there are some downsides to these ‘improvements’. Hit the jump for more »

Time Magazine Releases Their Top 10 Games of the Year that has Halo 3 #1; Bioshock #5

the-dude-time-man.jpg
Time Magazine might be the most recognizable magazine in our country and maybe the world. They have covered some of the most turbulent times in history and now has taken a stab at video games. Jesus tapdancing Christ. Here is the list. I will save you the annoyance of clicking through.

  1. Halo 3
  2. Half Life 2: The Orange Box
  3. Rock Band
  4. Super Mario Galaxy
  5. Bioshock
  6. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
  7. The Legend of Zelda: The Phantom Hourglass
  8. Mass Effect
  9. Ace Combat 6
  10. God of War 2

What the fuck? I understand that PS2 is last gen, but you better have a huge set of balls to rate God of War 2 lower than Ace Combat 6. Somehow the DS version of Zelda beat out the wii version? Metroid was not even mentioned. Bioshock rated lower than Rock Band? Rock Band is fun but you cannot even begin to compare to the two. Halo 3 sold hundreds of millions of copies but that does not make it the game of the year, ironically, winning no major awards at the VGA’s. Half Life 2, hey, great port, but number 2? Also notice, not one PS3 exclusive title made it. A chimpanzee could have picked these games out of his ass in a better order.

God of War: Chains of Olympus (PSP) Demo Impressions

God of War PSP Attica Screen 2

Sony did an amazing job of translating the God of War experience from the PS2 to the PSP. Even on the handheld, the game feels enormous and you have the same sense of drive as with the first two games in the series. If you’ve played previous God of War games, you’ll feel very comfortable with Chains of Olympus. The controls are just like it’s console brothers and feels great.

The demo puts you in the Battle of Attica as the city is being attacked by Persian soldiers. You fight your way into the city, battling and chasing a basalisk (think Godzilla on 4 legs). Being able to fight such a giant creature early on in the demo is a great way to let you know the game’s scale.

Chains of Olympus has flat out the best graphics the PSP has ever seen. I can’t wait to see the full game in March 2008. If you didn’t get a copy of this demo, do whatever you have to do to find a copy.

God of War PSP Info: Cave of Eos

God of War PSP Eos Art

I just got an email from Sony with some nice new info on God of War: Chains of Olympus for the PSP. Ru Weerasuriya, the game’s director, shred some light on Eos, the Goddess of Dawn. Eos is one of the first helpful characters in the game, and the Cave of Eos is the level that players will get to battle their way into to get her help to progress in the game.

God of War is a mix of cool elements that together make up an amazing franchise. From the story elements to the visceral combat, from the challenge to the epic visuals, it immerses the player into a world they want to keep coming back to. We keep this all in mind when creating any God of War level, such as the Cave of Eos in God of War: Chains of Olympus. In this level, the player is introduced to Eos, the Goddess of Dawn. She will reveal events of the story that will lead you further in your quest, but getting to her is no easy task. You will have to defeat a multitude of enemies to progress, one of which is a new take on a God of War classic, the blood-lusting Minotaur. The rewards awaiting you are a new magic granted by Eos that adds to the vast array of mechanics Kratos already possesses. But to advance to the end of the level, Kratos will have to prove himself by using his new abilities to solve a challenge so deadly it could have only been created by the Gods of Olympus.

Between this and the new Syphon Filter title, the PSP’s game library is really coming together for the next six months.

God of War Live Action Parody

This is what happens when college kids have too much time on their hands. I bet the kid that plays Kratos fails out.
