There is no official word yet, but Activision left off quite a few games on their release list after E3. The following notable games were not present: Ghostbusters, 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand, Brutal Legend, Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena, World at Conflict: Soviet Assault, Zombie Wranglers, Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust, as well as several Xbox Live Arcade titles.
We are reviewing our options regarding those titles that we will not be publishing.” Additionally the company plans to “realign” staff at High Moon Studios and Radical Entertainment, while Massive Entertainment and Swordfish Studios are both under consideration for sale or closure.
People are reporting that these games were not mentioned because they have been axed. Not so. I am just reporting that something may be afoot. Will some of these games never see the light of day? Most likely. I doubt a 50 Cent game is going to make a ton of money and cost the studio much in reputation, but I was really looking forward to Ghostbusters. Bustin’ makes me feel good.
Want to play as Eegon or Dr. Venkman? Your chance is coming soon with Sierra’s Ghostbusters game. Check out the interview with Mark Randal, President of Terminal Reality, surrounding all things Ghostbusters.
Dr. Peter Venkman: This city is headed for a disaster of biblical proportions. Mayor: What do you mean, “biblical”? Dr Ray Stantz: What he means is Old Testament, Mr. Mayor, real wrath-of-God type stuff. Dr. Peter Venkman: Exactly. Dr Ray Stantz: Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies. Rivers and seas boiling. Dr. Egon Spengler: Forty years of darkness. Earthquakes, volcanoes… Winston Zeddemore: The dead rising from the grave. Dr. Peter Venkman: Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together - mass hysteria.
You read correctly. Yesterday, we showed you a teaser for the new upcoming Ghostbusters next gen game. The teaser really did not show anything but it definitely sparked some interest. Now this. All 4 of the original Ghostbusters WILL be doing the voice acting. Bill, Dan, Ivan, and Ernie will reprise their roles as Ghostbusters. That’s not all. The nerdy secretary played by Annie Potts is back along with Brian Doyle Murray who played the psychiatrist in the sequel.(The guy who was the caddy master in Caddyshack.) Also… the jerk off EPA guy from the first one will also be in the game. No word yet on Rick Moranis or Sigourney Weaver. I have a feeling they are not exactly busy right now, but hey, this is shaping up to look like a full on project and not some half assed attempt to revive an old movie. I would totally let the gate keeper sit on my face. The gate keeper was the chick right?
There is suppressed anger and then there is this guy. If you have not heard of the Angry Video Game Nerd, he is well, a nerd who is perennially pissed off at video games that supposedly ruined his childhood. Probably under the guise of his therapist, he is lashing out, angrily. Aside from the foul language, this is really worth watching. Might want to turn it down if at work. Otherwise, enjoy.
