I spent the better part of today at Virgin Megastore in Times Square for the Guitar Hero II event sponsored by Microsoft. The event starred 5 lucky contestants who played it out for a chance to rock with Gene Simmons of KISS.
The event started off strong with the 5 contestants each playing their choice of song on expert difficulty to see who could rack up the most points. Congrats goes to JW from Texas who put up an impressive 330k points playing Possum Kingdom by Toadies. A close second was Matt from Texas who scored 320k points playing Iron Maiden’s The Trooper.
Just a friendly reminder that Microsoft’s Guitar Hero II event with Gene Simmons is tomorrow at Virgin Megastore in Time Square. I’ll be there playing some GH2 and talking to some folks. If you’re going to the event, it starts at 12:30pm. Leave a comment if you’ll be there and think you can hang with my Guitar Hero skills. 
I’m taking a much needed vacation (holiday for the rest of the world) starting tomorrow. I’ll be taking a break from my rest to go to the Guitar Hero II event with Gene Simmons in NYC on Wednesday, and I’ll be sure to have a bunch of pictures and such up as soon as I can.

If you’re around New York City next Wednesday, April 11, stop by Virgin Megastore in Times Square. Microsoft is hosting a Guitar Hero II competition, where five lucky contestants will be able to battle it out to get to play “Strutter” with one and only Gene Simmons of KISS. Don’t go jumping around just yet, the contestants have already been selected.
The event runs from 12:30-2:30pm EST. I’ll be there with bells on (not really you freaks). I’ll make sure to take lots of pictures to show everyone. If anyone in the area will be going, leave some comments.
Expect Gene Simmons to market the hell out of himself at every turn, cause that’s how he rolls.
