GameStop wants to get you in the mood for Gears of War 2. They also want your money and pre-orders. To help with all of these needs, all of the company’s stores will be hosting Gears of War tournaments this Friday, July 25th at 9:30pm.
Along with the tournament, there will be prizes for winners (and some random ones thrown in) as well as a custom produced video by Epic Games showing off some new stuff in Gears of War 2. Since the game is rated M, you have to be 17 or older to attend the event, so have your ID ready.
I’ll be showing off some of my Gears skills at my local GameStop in Saratoga Springs. Anyone that wants to try and take me down, let me know in the comments. Will you be going to your local GameStop on Friday night to win some Gears prizes?
[Update] The flyer for the event has a coupon on the back where you can get an extra 30% in trade-in credit on games when you pre-order Gears of War 2. The promo is running from July 25th through July 27th, so get ready to pre-order this weekend.
This one got me a bit excited. I’m a huge fan of gaming and sci-fi related books and have read all the Halo novels. It pleases me to hear that Gears of War will be getting a trilogy set of books in the near future. The first book, written by Karen Traviss, will go on sale October 28th, 2008.

Sounds good to me. I’m sure I’ll pick this one up to check out while I’m playing Gears of War 2 this Fall.
Have you ever dreamed of fighting the Locust horde? Do you like spending a lot of money on shit you don’t need, can’t afford, and have no functionality or practicality whatsoever? If you answered yes, as we all here did, you are going to be interested in a life sized Lancer battle-rifle. What could go better with a Lancer than a full set of C.O.G. armor? There are some of you out there who have not bought Gears of War yet. I am one of them. My roommate at the time bought the game and we had a house copy. He has since moved on and I am left bereft of Marcus and Co. Gamestop is re-releasing a jam packed version of GoW. It comes with ALL the DLC to date which includes map packs, gamer pictures and themes (who gives a fuck), and a Gears of War 2 preview. All for the low price of 39.99. Its actually a good deal considering the game is still widely played on multi and all the new maps are on there (even though they’re free now anyway). It ships June 24th. You can….pre…..order… if you dare.
Want to see some locusts get jacked up in cool art styles? Your chance is coming as DC Comics will be brining Marcus, Dom, and all your favorite chainsaw wielding heroes to the comics. The series is set to come from DC’s WildStorm publishing imprint in October.

Just wanted to say thanks to all of our friends who joined us last night for Game with Loot Ninja night. We played a bunch of Gears of War in Warzone. I got curb stomped quite a bit by mister needles. Yeah, he’s pretty good.
