C.O.R.E. Debut Trailer

Take a first look at C.O.R.E. a futuristic and fast paced action FPS for the Nintendo DS. It is the 20th of the XXI century and an unidentified object has crashed on the Earth, so the government builds a complex around the crash site and shenanigans ensue. This has a strong Doom meets AREA 51 feel to it, decent FPS for the DS but I think it needs a bit more, curious if this will have any stylus support?

Bioshock on the PS3: The Press Release

BioShock PS3 Screen 1

That’s right. Its official like a referee with a whistle now. Bioshock is coming to your neighborhood PS3 like it or not. Looks like ‘exclusive title’ gives way to ‘timed release’ again. At least PS3 users can expect some exclusive content and extras to warrant the purchase. I wonder if any Xbox users will be enticed to purchase it as well? More screen love after the jump.

Lego Wolfenstein Vid

O you heard me right folks, the old classic Castle Wolfenstein as been redone with some Lego flair. Nothing beats gutting a Lego man with a knife, except perhaps shooting one with a bazooka. Wolfenstein was one of the first FPS games I can recall playing so i can’t help but smile while watching a Lego version, maybe we can look forward to seeing even more of these Lego style games.

Hit the jump for some bazooka action.

Playing games with your mind… ?

Looks like controlling your video game with your thoughts is not as far from reality as some may think. A couple of companies have already worked on moving digital objects in a video game and then applied that to even controlling robots. This is pretty awesome and would make for some awesome gaming potential, wonder how this could be applied to FPS games and sports games, just use your thoughts to move and fire.

Frag Dolls - FPS Marathon

Looks like the frag Dolls took our Halo 3 non-stop gaming session and altered it a bit. They played Rainbow Six Vegas 2 for 24 hours straight on the Xbox 360 to raise money for breast cancer research and to set a Guiness world record.

I like how the blonde talks about coming out of the restroom and looking for a tactical advantage about 14 hours into the event. Also her major complaint is “her bra hurting”. Some say that 3 girls playing game sis hot but something about 3 girls playing games for 24 hours straight with no shower breaks is a bit disturbing to me.

We are going to get Max into gear with that Halo 3 marathon! Good job to the Frag Dolls for setting the record and raising some money for this great cause. Congrats!! I didn’t know the Frag Dolls were British?!

150MB Size Limit for Arcade Games Limiting Capcom

bionic-commando.jpg
Capcom is solely responsible for the greatest selling arcade game to date, Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting, It has come to light that with a new installment of SF2 on the way, Turbo HD Remix, the game will not be as sharp on the Xbox 360. Capcom is none too pleased. Of course, MS countered with this comment:

Last I checked it was Capcom that had an exception to our file size with Street Fighter II [Hyper Fighting]…. We raised our limit to 150 megs, which seems pretty darn great…. I don’t think it has limited our games in any way. Look at Rez HD. Look at Poker Smash. Look at Undertow. These are very, very, very good games.

With Bionic Commando Arcade on the way, people are eager to see if there is a substantial framerate drop in the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions. People had limitations and game devs are no exception. Expect a comparison video on this very soon.

Haze gets delayed… sigh

HazeThose of you anxious to get your hands on Haze and the drug induced potentials of this FPS will have to wait, again. Everyone was expecting this title to hit during the holidays last year and it was delayed and now news that it will be delayed again until March. There are just too many games being delayed, I can only hope that with the delays come improvements to the game.

Thanks to Fragloser for the tip!

Poll: What makes you a better FPS player?

WolfensteinI have spent quite a bit of time playing Halo 3 the last few days and I realized that I am one rusty mofo! It also got me thinking about what really is important to be good at a first person shooter. At first I blamed not knowing the maps, then I blamed not playing for a while, then I thought I just sucked, then I thought it was the random teams I was put into, but I realized that there was probably some truth to all of the above. I have seen improvement with more play time but got me thinking about what exactly people think is the most important factor to be successful at playing and winning at first person shooters like Halo, CounterStrike, Team Fortress, etc.

Halo 3 Review

Hao 3So Halo 3 has been out now for 2 weeks and I am sure everyone has gotten a chance to check this out in some way shape or form, so now it’s time to tackle a review. Halo 3 is Bungie’s follow up to its two predecessors Halo 1 and 2 and picks up right where they left off. After months of advertising and hardcore marketing now gamers get a chance to put Master Chief into action and judge just how good this behemoth really is?

Presentation and Graphics: Halo 3 is polished, not light years beyond Halo 2, but you can see the difference when viewing the game on an HD screen, especially during the cut scenes. Master Chief’s visor never looked so shiny! A nice new distinction now is that you can customize your characters appearance for multi player matches, now you don’t have to always use the same Spartan armor and can actually get the Ninja Gaiden helmet if you collect all the skulls. 4 out of 5

Sound and Music: Halo 3 in 5.1 surround sound does extremely well; there is enough Gregorian chant and inspiring orchestra music to fill a room at any time. From the opening credits the familiar sound of Halo comes booming out of the speakers and carries all the way through. The music plays a big part in the game in that when you hear the inspirational music begin you know you are headed up to a big encounter or cut-scene. AI commentary is pretty funny too, a few times I found myself laughing after hearing grunts yell out that I killed their brother. 4.5 out of 5
