Happy days are here! The wonderful couple from Kent who have been selling fake DS consoles and games are now spending some quality time with the folks at Bromley Trading Standards Department and the local Kent Police Department. A raid on the happy homestead netted a seizure of 150 counterfeit games and 40 counterfeit Nintendo DS consoles with potentially dangerous power supplies. The games were for the Nintendo DS and Gameboy Advance. The early investigation indicates the couple earned in excess of GBP 50,000 in December 2008. I’m happy to hear these two are on ice for all the people they have screwed over this holiday season, all the kids who opened their gifts and got crap or got hurt from dangerous and poor equipment.
Rumors were flying around the intarweb yesterday about Gran Turismo 5 for the PS3 featuring well over 1000 cars in it’s arsenal. Today Sony shot those rumors down with some heavy artillery.
Three Speech, the semi-official Sony blog, contacted the company directly to find out what’s the deal.
“Despite news articles claiming that ‘SCEI/Polyphony Digital’ have made an official announcement with regards to GT5 featuring 1000 vehicles, we can confirm that this is pure speculation. It would appear that the list is a mixture of vehicles that were included in previous GT titles, coupled with somebody’s own fantasy garage.
Further details about GT5 will be announced in due course, but for the moment at least, we can confirm that the current car list/speculation, does not come from SCE.”
As further evidence, the website that posted the list has announced it’s fake and wasn’t sent to them by Sony or Polyphany Digital.
Oh well, I guess we have to go back to speculating what kind of cool cars will make the cut in the next PS3 racing simulation.
Turns out, the CEO of the WWE is not really dead. His alleged car bombing last week on Monday Night RAW was a staged event and he is alive and well, probably swimming in his pool of twenty dollar bills. I have not really followed wrestling for the past 7 or so years ever since there roster has grown to Mormon sized proportions, but I saw an actual news report from a very reputable news service that Vince McMahon had been killed in a car bombing. Maybe being a little naive, I checked around and sure enough it was a stunt. Since when did car bombings become fodder for story lines in pro wrestling? I am fully aware that professional wrestling is not real and its a soap opera for men, but this seemed a little much. There are people out there right now who fully believe that this man is really dead. This isn’t a “Who shot Mr. Burns” thing, this is real people thinking a man has been killed. Remember Owen Hart? Brother of Bret “The Hitman” Hart and long time wrestler? He fell to his death in 1999 onto a ring post from a botched stunt. This guy seemed pretty upset(Click on the picture for video)
Go to www.wwe.com and read about tonight’s program. They don’t tell you this is a hoax. Is it even legal to fake a fake death? During a time where bombings and assassinations are a reality, playing on the emotions of people may just have over stepped the bounds. Furthermore, I am not a bleeding heart liberal. I’ll be voting republican next November. People accuse video games of being too realistic and are the source of all the world’s problems. At least we know the game isn’t real. I don’t have to do a google search to see if the Covenant have landed.
Apparently this press release was completely fabricated. Boo on that. I got excited for it. Read up on the fake story anyway.
In a Press Conference early morning 1/11/07 in Osaka, Japan (for those who don’t understand world time, it just happened), Konami announced (fake press release) a development team called “Konami X Productions”, headed by Hidea Kojima himself, will be developing games EXCLUSIVELY for the Xbox 360 and Microsoft platforms. They’ll start by developing Metal Gear Solid: Trilogy for the Xbox 360. The game will include remakes of Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance, and Metal Gear Solid 3: Substinence. Also being developed is Metal Gear Solid: Fluid Ac!d for the Zune.
This would be HUGE news for 360 owners, if it was true.
